This. If you don't have upped cards, stay out of PvP2. PvP1 is a place where even the noobs and pros can stand toe to toe. Score is irrelevant as it only indicates how long you've played. The only difference a pro and a noob will have in PvP is that pros may have more rares and nymphs, but the overall metagame in PvP1 is the same for everyone. And besides, it's actually worse for the pro, since if he wins, he doesn't get much, but if he loses, he loses a lot of score.

1. You can easily collect a set of all nonrare non upped cards for PvP within a week. You can easily get a very good PvP1 deck within 30 minutes of playing.
2. Practice is a thing that pros have, but lurk the forums a bit or practice more and you'll recognize deck archetypes and strategies. Chapuz has a neat thread on that.
3. PvP1 is really balanced in that you nearly always have a chance unless you're hard countered. Even if I were to enter PvP1, I can't guarantee I'll win the majority of matches since my experience and arsenal aren't that high above a typical newbies.
4. 8 stack poison is nothing impressive.

There is inherent matchmaking balance.

Reward for player 1 winning x chance of player 1 winning = Reward for player 2 winning x chance of player 2 winning

Of course the game uses relative score to approximate the chance of a player winning, however it is still a good balance system.

Agreed, I just did it.

Also correct, I love guessing the entire deck by mark and first turn.

Your opponent uses  , so it is not impressive that Wizy won with Elemental Mastery, since Life has the most healing in the game. 
Play a little more and you'll see you can also beat some opponents pretty easily, depending on what deck you play and how lucky you are.
However, most importantly, you don't have to play anyone by force, just press "Back to MENU" and you will leave the PvP arena without losing any or score.

this is not true. i've tried it. you should try it some time

^ Hmm, true, I tried it again and it seems that you leave the PvP arena with the lesser score and Electrum you would get if you would lost the match, so yes you're right about that.
 However, you can still use "Back to MENU" button in order to avoid losing time by playing much more experienced players. Try focusing on collecting your 500  by wining AI Level 2 & AI Level 3 instead of playing PvP1, that's what I did.
