Let's get some new art - Shields

I think the shields look alright, but some of them don't look like shields so much (Jade Shield). How about new, epic art for most or all of our shields?

I vote "definitely not".

I don't think there is anything wrong with the art in Elements, and I don't think we need to redo everything. Instead of polishing old cards, it would be better to just make new ones.

It can be confusing and annoying when all the cards you've known for 1+ year, suddenly change and look completely different.

I personally think "why not," because it's not like Zanz has to do it himself. I think of it as something of a project to improve upon the things we already have. While Zanz makes new cards and such to expand the game, we can find new ways to improve upon the cosmetics of it. I don't see why this would be a bad thing at all. It's not like I started a thread saying, "Ugh. The art for the shields is unbearably awful. We HAVE to change these ugly shields!" I'm just saying that if there is room for improvement, take the step. We have the talent and the people.

I think any new art is cool. Look what happened with leaf dragon, pillars/towers. They look great. I support the idea, but I'm not so good at art myself

Well, there is always room for improvement, but at some point it's better to stop polishing and move on to other things, otherwise nothing new gets done.

New art is not a bad thing, but there is a limited amount of time, so the artists of this community have to make choices. Would you rather have the artists to spend their time redoing current art, or design new art so that we can get new cards? We cannot have both at the same time.

Replacing old towers made sense because they looked too similar, therefore boring. I don't see that problem with shields.

Well, i personally dont have the ability to really do any sort of artwork for the cards currently, but i would not mind seeing some of the older cards refurbished into something nicer. Maybe make a thread project for redoing the artwork. It does not have to be in competition with making new cards at all. It can just be another part of the community where we vote on the new art people submit for older versions.
Maybe make a poll to see what cards people would want to see redone?
I did really enjoy the pillar/tower update but I am not a huge fan of the new quantum tower. i did not like really any of the options for that one. The current one is ok but i feel like it could be better.

I don´t see the point of new shields. All shields look unique and unconvenient. And so many weapons.
Some have the same origin. Spore.
Owl´s Eye, Eternity, Fog Shield and Sundial are definitely made with it. I think Discord, Trident, Arsenic too.
Carpace Shield ,Dimensional Shield, Skull Shield, Dissipation Shield could be from there.
Maybe even more. You can find them (more or less easily), if you click on the names in the login screen.

The art of the shields fits to the art of the weapon in my opinion.

The only shield which doesn´t really fit in my opinion is Hope, with a humanoid and the light.
It´s effect could be easily transferred to Solar Shield. But I think, this will not happen.

Right. I'm not talking about redoing everything, but at the same time, we did just come out with a bunch of new cards, and it is expected that we will have less of a load for a while until the next update. This means that if our resident artists do want to work on something, this is my personal suggestion on which existing cards they could work on. I'm not trying to say we absolutely have to do it right now, but it would be cool if it happened.

All those little points of light surround the elemental protecting it from harm.  It's like the Liedenfrost effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leidenfrost_effect) they showed on Mythbusters (http://mythbustersresults.com/mini-myth-mayhem) one time.
