A discover-like recipe is easily broken through chat and wiki.(so even a newb can know all interesting recipes before actualy trying one).

Coding a Forge, as Bluepriest is pointing out, is less work than balancing all creations and make an awesome GUI for it(as the T500 interface). If rare are craftable they will need rare component(not baazar sold);these components should be less rare than rares so that a restless grinder can get rares at a more rational rate.

I assume this is a threadsurrection.  Well, good to see that there's support for the idea even now. :)

This could be avoided by not being able to get a key piece to it, until a certain thing is accomplished.

I think this is a wonderful idea and I would love to have it in the game. Using the little knowledge of programming that I have, I don't think it will be too hard to code. Also, if Zanz decided to put it in the game, I would love to help design cards that would be used in the forge.

I like this idea.  I do not wish to detract from it, but in response to comments about it being too complicated or too easy to obtain recipe's etc,  a possible simpler if not as nifty method would be more of a melting pot than forge.  Open up pot, start selecting cards and when done click merge.  Game would calculate value and rarity of cards and based on that spit out a card.  The more value of cards the better card created.  Occasionaly with enough value of cards it would produce a rare.  You never get to choose the card.  Tossing in a rare or upgraded card would almost gaurantee a rare.

Of the two ideas I defintely prefer the forge idea though.  If the forge is put in play, maybe melting pot could be used to break down cards into materials?

I'm not sure if anyone linked this already, that thread of yours looks pretty good, very interesting concept and would add a lot to the game, and that's at the same time the problem since the chance it'd cause an imbalance would be pretty high, altho I guess you're not suggesting the exact same thing in this thread
