Game Sounds

I've brought this up in chat before, but I would like to see what the rest of the community has to say.

To me, every sound in this game is just unattractive and overly monotonous.

Every time I play now, I shut the sound off right away and turn on some music.

I suggest that the community, myself included, devise sounds for each creature in the game, so when it attacks, we really know who's attacking.

I would wait and then leave the game open, but I can see how that would definitely be an issue.

I do believe a better variety of sound effects and perhaps music would benefit by an aesthetic point of view EtG. Hardly a pressing issue, though.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out and do a little research about how each creature could sound.

I understand how it's not really necessary, but investing time into this would definitely make this game more attractive.

I personally do think beter sound effects could be an addition to EtG. Even though this is low in the priority chain, I like your suggestion!

I think that if it were to happen, the people should have some sort of qualifications. Maybe an understanding of each creature?

For such a competition, people would either need to make their own or use a sound effects provider with non-copyrighted sounds OR with permission for use from the creator/developer.  Before any sound effects become implemented, the source needs to be taken into consideration in order to avoid copyright infringement.

Of course that's true, but I believe the site Mormegil posted is perfectly legal. Other than that, it would be nice to see what your thoughts are on the actual idea/topic.

Building off of Jappert's competition idea, how about a competition for the best ORIGINAL sound...it would add in a nice creativity factor ^_^.  Maybe ppl could upload .wav or .m4a files to a file-sharing network.  The sound could be anything from a simple one step recording or an effects-driven creation out of a recording/producing program.  Either way, it would be cool.
