EmeraldTiger and I have been discussing cards which involve a card's element - so far, there are very few; in fact, only Nightfall, Flooding, Holy Light, Shard of Patience and Shard of Readiness take into account the element of a card.

Adding more cards (or functionality) like this would allow for more card designing opportunities; for example, cards that change the element of a creature, and so forth.

Thoughts?

Maybe small touches like making fire bolt do more damage to  :life creatures and less to  :water creatures. Or nightfall affecting lycanthropes as well.  :water creatures are frozen a turn longer. Stuff like that.   :air creatures take more damage to thunderstorm....etc.

When implemented for thematic and mechanical reasons, this kind of effect modifiers are beneficial. However
I feel only a very small fraction of the card pool should be composed of this kind of effect modifier.

Irrelevant. Those that don't have an explicit blanket effect will be cheaper than those that do. This relative cost reduction is their blanket effect.

I'm gonna say no on negative effects being modified by type, seems like a lot of unnecessary rock-paper scissoring for little gain gameplay wise.

Stuff that affects your guys only like Shards is alright by me.

I think 5% might be better. Maybe less. I prefer very diverse card pools.

IMO, these should not effect current cards, but rather take the form of a small group of non-Shard ideas that specifically benefit/detriment from certain elements. To be fair, each element should also have at least a few of these.
I've been thinking about several ideas regarding specific elemental action as well, though I've been lacking the time to actually make them.
It's a good idea to start designing now and eventually add in the long run, but right now I think we should focus on getting Element mono, duo, and trio interactions in general up rather than Element X specifically interacting with Element Y.
