Experienced unupped pvp mode (or improved matchmaking) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=36615.msg459510#msg459510

As show my study (in general forum),  playing random unupped pvp means often encountering complete newbies, often using starter decks or other badly designed ones, not really offering a challenge to more experienced players (and I think it's even more annoying for those newbies who probably lose all their money in a few games and may end disgusted ; when you are at a stage you haven't started to farm ai3, 20 electrum is not a small price).

So I wonder if it has been envisionned to either split the random unupped pvp mode in different level groups, with say a score < 2000 category allowing newbies to avoid very experienced players (which would also allow to reduce the low level pvp price/reward), or, while keeping only one mode, to implement a matchmaking script trying to group close scores to reduce the frequency of those newbies vs experienced players games instead of the current (as far I know) purely random matching system.

(of course I see the drawback of eventually increased waiting times ; but actually it seems there's a sufficient number of players to almost always find a game in less than 30 seconds, so it may not be a very big problem)

ps : don't know for the situation of upped pvp, I just don't like pvp with upped cards

Perhaps. Having score categories would be nice. It's annoying going into pvp for a random match and some noob with pathetically low score manages to beat you by RNG and you lose money and score that way. On the converse, if you win, the stuff you win isn't worth much either.

A good idea, but it might be hard for higher scored players to find a amount of games.
Say, people with 15000+ score is gonna find a lot less games then with someone who has 100+ score.
Would increasing the range help this?
For example, 0-100, 100-500,500-1500,1500-4000,4000-7500,7500-12500, and so on.

Something like an arena lobby separating unupped and upped and the score groups might do. That's quite big to be implemented, though.
And I think somebody has suggested that before.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

I was suggesting only two categories if pvp1 is split (to avoid increasing waiting time too much) : one including newbies and players with say a score under 2000 (that would be half the users I encountered in pvp1 in my last study ; now don't know if it was representative enough, the real middle may be closer from 3000 or 4000, only game admins can have enough stats to know that), and the other the other half including all players with an higher score.

OR, as another option, a matchmaking script trying to group the closest scores -which may or not be really close- (if say a score 1500, a score 122000, a score -3 and a score 500 are looking for a game at the same time, the score -3 would play the score 500, and the score 1500 the score 122000).

It would be hard for high scored players to find matches now, since nobody with a high score plays random pvp, but if this were implemented, people like me might actually play pvp1/2, so you'd get more players.  Having something like a system where it matches you with someone within, say, 10-15 levels of you, would be reasonable.  *Not* bronze/silver/gold/plat, because then a level 39 would never be matched against a level 41, say, and anyone at 21/41/61 would always be facing much better opponents, and 20/40/60/80 would be facing much worse ones, scorewise.  Score isn't an indicator of skill, but it is an indicator of how big your card collection is, so particularly in pvp2 this is important.
