For the lobby, it'd be cool if there was like an in game chat channel or something, with the players displayed there and their arena levels next to them. There could even be different channels like pvp, arena, general discussion.

What I believe Chapuz is trying to say is that he is worried that this will turn to a project to only make the game look good and step away from making gameplay good.

What I believe Chapuz is trying to say is that he is worried that this will turn to a project to only make the game look good and step away from making gameplay good.

The thing is, we've been trying to improve gameplay on here forever, through nerf/buff threads, card design, etc.  At the same time, we have talented artists, such as vrt, etc., who have made beautiful art for the game.  Yes, this project is more along the artistic lines, but etg has always had a focus on gameplay development as it is, so I do not think that one additional aesthetic project will cause the community to step away from developing gameplay.

Also IMO the sign-up button shouldn't be red, it looks kinda bad in contrast to the background at the moment.

*shrugs* I don't get all the hate, especially since the updated version. It looks fantasy enough to me. I like it. And I don't think an artistic project (with some tag along things like a lobby) are going to make people want to develop the game any less. If anything, a lobby right there as a button on the screen will draw more people to chat and, consequently, join the community, which brings in fresh ideas.

I like the lobby thing. As of now, the only thing that links the game to the community in-game is the chat button, which only opens another tab and some people wouldn't like it. Some prefer keeping a game in one tab and generating three tabs for a single game is displeasing to someone who is just a casual player. And the background thingy. It's nice. I like this idea, too.

And here's a sad fact: people's opinions are biased. The "hate" on the thread is affected by your popularity in the community. See, you aren't that popular yet. I'm sure that if vrt (no offense, you are just the best example of an art-god here) made this people would just say "OMG I like it add it to the game now!"
That's how everything in the world works.

I have to agree to an extent.  It's not so much as it's hated, but as a newer member, there's a trend of being much more critical so, as I'd like to think, to see if you have the chutzpah to stay.

And even in vrt's case, that's not true.  See the last update with the new art additions.  Quite a lot of hate for our resident veteran artist.

Personally, I just don't like it because it is simply good enough.  I'd like to think that if something is going to be updated, it won't be replaced with "good enough," but with "awesome."

FTFY. More people will say that this should be implemented if it came from a more popular player. It's not a "law" but it still has an influence.

Qualifier: I do not have an opinion on this topic. I am indirectly replying to the quote.

Trust is earned. Vrt has earned the reputation of being a knowledgeable and skilled artist via repeated evidence. I am more willing to evaluate my position if someone I consider more knowledgeable disagrees with me. This respect can contribute to popularity.

However it is usually best if an argument is evaluated independent of the author.
