This is a very good question.

I used my amazing HTML-skills earlier and tried to find that SWF-file but couldn't find it. What is the direct link to it?

I hate playing Elements with my browser because sometimes I close it my mistake or something.

Are there any future plans for having any sort of downloadable client for Elements? I'm sure that it's convenient for casual players to have access to it in Flash, but it would be pretty dandy to be able to execute it from the desktop as well, and being able to view it out of a clunky browser.

The best I'm doing right now is having a desktop shortcut that takes me straight to the SWF so that I can play it in fullscreen.

I think this would put a lot less stress on the server
zanz can't code networking. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even encrypt passwords in the packets. However the server is down so I can't check.

would allow future hack-blocking software.
Flash 10 has a lot of in-built protection; it's extremely hard to match it.

and would even allow an integrated chatroom.
Maybe.

Another concern would be the presence of bugs - bugs in a flash app can't do much to your system, but bugs in an executable client certainly can.

Ahh I didn't know that.

And do you realize you're giving more ammunition to the doubters/conspiracy theorists (myself included!) in this thread:

I'm still working on a Source (you know, like Half-Life 2, Portal, etc.) version of Elements, but I still don't even know if it's possible. It's quite fun to do even if it's not.
Did you mean Steam?

Well yes and no, really:

STEAM - Valve's distribution thingy.

SOURCE - The game/physics engine that runs games like Portal, TF2, HL2, HL:S.
