"Choose" the league for your deck https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=34697.msg437488#msg437488

I was wondering why after I reach lvl 20+, I'm not able to put my deck in the bronze league anymore, even if I'm only using 19- skill points.

It would be nice if our deck was placed on the league based on the amount of skill points we used, not in our current level, which doesn't mean much IMO.

I can recall people mentioning a feature like this, before and shortly after the Arena patch release, but never seen it suggested in this forum section.
Sounds like a nice idea indeed and I actually forgot why Zanz chose not to implement it like this.

I like the suggestion but let's see if there's others who do have objections.

No it's good as it is now.
if you should do that players from above lvl 19 would maybe go to bronze because you get more duels there, giving the real bronze players no chance to get a high rank
If you're weak, then run, but toward your enemy

It's probably to give people a chance in each league.  For example, I have all the unupped cards and 80%+ of the upped cards, and even if I used only 19 skill points, I could build a better deck than any of the bronze league players as long as I didn't get a really stupid card like flooding, and maybe even then I could, not because I'm necessarily better at the game, but because I can build any bronze level deck I want, and most players at that level can only field good decks in a few elements.

Players in bronze league shouldn't have to compete with the card pools of platinum league players who have been playing for months; they should get to compete on even footings with other bronze league players who will have similar selections of cards to choose from.

Official Zanz response:

Can a player with a high score (e.g. lvl 40) generate decks for lower leagues (e.g. Bronze)?
This is something I am actually thinking about:

Letting high level player submit decks in low level leagues might cause a flattening in variety (bronze league have mostly lvl19, silver lvl39, etc.).
However, higher level leagues will yield more coins per win, giving players a reason to move to a higher league.

Not letting high level players in low level leagues might cause certain leagues to overcrowd over time. Right now the score limits are set to divide the entire game population in 4 fractions that are about 25% each; my guess is that the gold league will overcrowd over time.

The discussion about this particular issue is open.
I'm doing science, and I'm still alive.

If certain leagues start to overcrowd, Zanz can always divide the leagues further; something like this:

Bronze: 0-16
Silver: 17-32
Gold: 33-48
Platinum: 49-64
Diamond: 65-80

Nothing says we have to keep 4 leagues forever, and nothing says we can't change the number of people on the leaderboard from 500 to any other number, either.

I created a topic about the "choose league" issue, when zanzarino opened the discussion about it.
Because it was directly related to a patch, I opened it in General Discussion, here  (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,27601.msg375644#msg375644)

an other solution can be e.g 600 (or maybe more) players per league instead of 500
If you're weak, then run, but toward your enemy

Well, right now there already is pretty profound overcrowding in some leagues. Take Gold for example - you can go 0-3 in Bronze, Silver, or Platinum and you'll get one more game, if not two. (I've seen Plat decks appear before me at 0-4, for certain. I'm not positive about Silver, but I don't remember having problems there.)

You go 0-3 in Gold and you're done. Heck, 0-2 puts you on the brink.

So the overcrowding is already there. I think that the rewards for winning at the higher leagues need to be increased if we're to encourage people not to go to the league with the most play (highly likely to be bronze) rather than the best they can reach, but even if we don't do that, I'm guessing some people in Gold would step back to Silver if only to get out from under the brutal competition at that league level.
