Changing Marks https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=6269.msg64878#msg64878

I am new here.  I started playing about a week ago (and defeated my first false god today!  woot!).  I am wondering what the reasoning is behind requiring players to pay 100 electrum to change their mark.

I enjoy this game quite a bit, but I have been playing like crazy this last week to grind out some new cards.  I am eventually going to need to draw it back a bit and play more casually.  Ideally, I would challenge one false god a day, and play a few games of PVP, trying out some different decks.  However, it seems likely that this means I would have to switch my mark twice a day:  once after the false god battle, and then again after the pvp matches.  If I am only playing 5-6 games a day, this means that I am probably not going to be earning any electrum, and won't be making any progress on obtaining any new cards.

Again, I like the game, and I understand and accept that you have to do some serious grinding to get new cards.  However, the cost to change the mark seems to make it difficult to spread that grinding out over a long period of time, while only playing a little while each game.  I have enjoyed the game so far, but if it turns out that I am unable to play casually and still make some progress, I will probably quit.

Yea I don't understand why the mark costs electrum to change to begin with.  PvP is all about changing decks and marks and 100 electrum is steep, especially for new players.  All this does is to discourage players from changing marks/decks for casual PvP, or even mixing their deck up against PvE.

I don't know what the reasoning is behind it.  Maybe it's a way to take money out of the game, but I don't agree with that.  If this game keeps getting more and more cards, imagine how daunting it is for new players when there's over 200+ cards that can be upgraded.

Yeah.  It seems to me that it is just a tax on people who want to playtest new decks.  A tax that established players can probably afford, but one that is hard for new players to deal with.

I hope you know the  trainer (http://www.elementsthegame.com/trainer) for testing decks.

I don´t like the high costs for the metamorphose either.

Trainer is no good for testing PvP decks though, you often want to test a deck against certain strategies or just in real PvP ;]
