Choice of No Uniques/Upgraded Cards https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=3135.msg26816#msg26816

It's rather unfair as a new player to go up against other players where the deck is almost entirely upgraded or unique cards. It's almost un-winnable.

I don't want to play against such unbalanced odds. I would rather have the opportunity to play against others that, like me, want to play a fair game with only the bazaar cards available. There's enough variety there to make for good battles.

There have been suggestions of matching up PvP pairings by score.

If you would like to play using certain rule sets (i.e. no upgrades, etc.) you can try playing the PvP Duel option. This allows you to play against a specific user, but no electrum or card spins are awarded.

There are also the Weekly Tournaments. Some of them have deck-building restrictions like no upgraded cards, or 30-card decks only. You could earn thousands of electrums, a Nymph, and bragging rights if you place in the top 4!

Then play the different Levels of the computer. Once you've played them plenty you should have enough for at least a single upgraded card. Check out some of the strategies on this forum and you can start to make more electrum pretty fast, and start dueling False Gods.

Do what I did back in those days in those situations. :fire RAGGGE QUIT!!! :fire 8). This is a very mature option in a situation where you don't feel like wasting 15 minutes knowing that losing is enevitible. Or you can just take your chances and hope for the best

A sign-up thread generally appears on the PvP Tournaments forum one week before each tournament begins.

http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,77.0.html

Entry is free, but you must be in chat throughout the duration of the tournament (as long as you're still in the competition) to receive information about round pairings and report wins, losses, and byes to the tournament organizers.

That's mind-numbingly boring, though. I don't really want to play the computer for, how long would it take? A few hundred hours? No thanks! I just want a fair fight. I can still kind of hold my own against completely upgraded decks, but I usually lose. It's to the point where I won't even play if the other player is too much higher... there's no point even starting the game.

But that's my point. Why is it fun for someone with an upgraded deck to even play someone with a starter deck? Why not just give all players a certain budget to build a deck, and let them decide how? Then they can swap in and out to their heart's content... with no further upgrading.

If you give people a budget to build a deck, there won't be any room for advancement in the game, as in it's going to turn into one of those cheesy flash games that keeps you entertained for half an hour.

well that's just it. the people you are playing against have put in that time that you are so unwilling to put in. i personally found it quite fun going through the motions to learn all the cards, understand the different strategies in the game, and get a fully upgraded deck. it only takes a fraction of the time that you suggested to do it too.

it's also not really necessary to upgrade any cards to do well in random pvp. most people who have played elements or other ccgs for a while, can build a deck from the start that will tear up most decks in random pvp.

in short what i'm trying to say is the people with upgrades are not beating you because they have better cards, they're beating you because they're better players....no offense.
