Spectate causes players to be able to spy on team testing and scout tourney decks. Use of spectate for these purposes is seen as unfair by most players and I'm sure that most players in competitive PvP do not like the use of spectate. It makes the game less fair, and it's use is frowned upon.
There aren't really many uses for it. There is the argument that it prevents cheaters, but it has little effect considering a player can screenshot whatever was unfair. Using spectate to try to find good decks is a pretty terrible idea because the decks in an average PvP game are much worse than those on the forum. Some people spectate war matches and maybe trials games, but these can be enabled.
An option to disable spectate is something that should have been done as soon as spectate was made. It avoids the major problems that cone with spectate while allowing the slight benefits of it.
Perhaps an option to disable spectate is too much to ask. It requires adding an option that doesn't even apply to most players. If Zanz does not want to add an option to disable spectate, it would still be better to remove it completely. It would finally end frowned upon tournament scouting and war spying even at the slight cost that players have to read battle summaries instead of watching glitchy versions of them.
