Aflatoxin and Skull Buckler vs. Phoenix consistency [poll added] https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=22295.msg283393#msg283393

Aflatoxin kills the Phoenix, but the death effect of creating a Malignant Cell is overridden by the Phoenix ability.

Skull Buckler kills the Phoenix, but the Phoenix ability is overridden by the death effect of creating a Skeleton.

The specific descriptions of the Aflatoxin and Skull Buckler effects are:
"Poison the target creature. If the target creature dies, it turns into a malignant cell."
"Attacking creatures have a small chance to die and turn into skeletons."

The descriptions lead me to believe they should behave the same way, and it bothers me that they are inconsistent. Since neither of them lobotomizes, I would prefer the Phoenix ability to override the Skull Buckler, but I just want to know if anyone else is bothered by this. I don't think it's important to change, and it could just be one of those quirks of the game you have to just know, but I don't really see why they aren't consistent.

Yes, you're right. Those are inconsistent and I'm also bothered by this. My opinion is that BOTH Aflatoxin and Skull Buckler should override Phoenix ability. ::) Can you please make a poll about this.
*edit * Poll added, thanks.

Good catch.
I often run aflatoxin offensively in PvP2, and I hate immortals/creatureless/high HPs and ect. If it could kill phoenix, it wouldn't hurt. After all, death is death, and having at least one form of killing that is better than the other elements wouldn't hurt others perception of it.
Phoenix is already used too much, and aflatoxin not enough (despite it being one of the most interesting cards in the game). So I would be all for overriding.

(However, a community wide poll I feel wouldn't get the results I want, and I am self centred like that. Popularity vote is not the way to go because people in generally like phoenixes more than aflatoxin and skull buckler...therefore)
But if you want to poll this, go for it. (Or send a PM and I can probably sneak one in there)

I won't vote until the 'Remove Vote' option is available. :P

That said, I don't really care whether or not Aflatoxin turns the Phoenix into a Malignant Cell, but if it at least generated a cell instead, then it could work; I see Skull Shield as a mutation rather than a on-death effect compared to the poison, but I can go for it either way really.

I THOUGHT I checked off the box to allow vote changing. Maybe I misclicked?  :-[

I think skull shield should be overriden by phoenix
could be that I am biased, but a phoenix shouldn't be overriden by such a simple shield...

Following that same logic, why should mythical dragons fall to it as well?
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

1.271 Notes
Bug fix:
- When multiple death effects are in conflict the follow priority rule is followed: aflatoxin > unholy shield > phoenix
Poll and topic can now be closed. Zanz "voted" Both should override Phoenix.
