Ah, but if you read SG's to-do list, i guess she either liked this idea, or had a similar one. She plans to attempt to implement something like this.
I had a similar idea long time ago but this thread reminded me of it. Well, maybe my idea was more like a noob-tutorial-guy then a noob-councelor-guy.
I feel that helping noobs in real time is important but it takes a lot of time and you only help one noob at a time. It's a much better strategy to write a tutorial. That way hundreds, maybe thousands, can read it and get the same info.
When I joined the game everyone was always asking "how to get money?". After answering that question a million times, I wrote that "how to get rich" tutorial. It was a painful process and took many hours but once it was finished, it was smooth sailing. From then on I just gave the link and everyone was happy.
This is what we should do with single aspect of the game, with a nice little index for fast browsing. This is my ultimate goal, and I need the "Tutorial Guy(s)" for that.
Also once Elements gets bigger, the plan is to make a "Noob Help Desk" chat room (so we have both the lobby and the help desk). There these "noob councilor" can sit and answer questions for awhile. They could have their own color so that noobs know when the councilor is there to take questions.
This would also make the lobby a better place when there wasn't so many newbies asking questions all the time, and veterans could discuss more important stuff.
But like I said, that's going to happen when the game gets bigger. Right now there is no need for that.
EDIT: I need to learn how to type. This was painful to read.
