[POLL] Nymph Exchange? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=8345.msg95545#msg95545

I've heard it said many times that people never use their nymphs or wish they specific elements' nymphs.

Here's a quick and dirty solution:

A Nymph Exchange!

Under the Oracle, there would be an option to go into the Nymph exchange. There, you could trade in any nymph (only one at a time, perhaps a minimum wait between) for any other color nymph, with two big catches:

You can't exchange for a particular nymph that you have an upped or unupped copy of
and
You have to pay a hefty fee for every nymph you exchange
Another possibility would be to only allow the player to change each nymph he has once, or give players 1 token per nymph they get from the oracle (and that they have when this feature would be introduced) to exchange one nymph.

This would prevent people from abusing the exchange to get multiple nymphs of the same color (if you already have one, you can only get more from the oracle giving them to you from a daily spin), and would prevent people from changing their nymphs around all the time because of the cost. For the cost, I suggest something around 15,000 electrum. That's the cost of upgrading 10 cards. I think it's fair to give players the option to change the color of their nymphs in lieu of upping 10 of their cards.

Let me know what you think in a vote above and a comment down below!

I chose no because I think it's pointless. I don't see many situations where I would be using this, besides the fact that I can turn my Red Nymph into a Purple Nymph. But then I can't because I already have three and "You can't exchange for a particular nymph that you have an upped or unupped copy of". Also, 15,000 electrum... :o

Hmm, I dunno.  It kind of makes it less special when you win a nymph you really really wanted.

Plus it makes it really easy to make 6 nymph-decks.

The idea here is to give people that keep getting nymphs they can't find a use for the ability to change them.

=o

Screwed up the hyphen.

It makes it really easy to make multiple decks all with nymphs in them.

i'm in favor of this personally because i want a purple nymph and only have a time nymph (sold my white nymph before i knew what they were :o)
also i dont think it'd make nymphs much less special because there wouldnt be any more of them. it'd have to be a big price, 15000 sounds good

I think its better to give people a nymph who havent won a nymph for a certain amount of time, like 2 months...

just to show unlucky guys(e.g. me)

@Selenbrant: Many more people have (a) nymph(s) but have no use for them or can't find a use for them (because of their color) than those that don't and can't get one.

I'd say yes, for a variable cost. What I see here is another take on an idea that has come up two or three times before: that the electrum prices of cards should be determined by supply and demand (at that time, the idea was to allow players to sell each other cards, and to use tokens to keep nymphs ungrindable). Instead, zanzarino assigns each card a rank N, with common cards having ranks 1 through 4, rares 6, and nymphs 15; then it has a sell price of 4N^2+Q -- and if it's common, a buy price of 6N^2+Q -- where Q is its quantum cost.

I don't see any reason to tell sSethia, in this player-bazaar, that he can't trade his red nymph for another purple nymph. He'd need to sell his red nymph to get a token, and couldn't get more for it than the computer was offering until another player wanted to turn their nymph red; then there'd need to be another player who had sold a purple nymph, and was asking a price sSethia could afford and was willing to pay.

@morningstar: The price could be contingent on the amount of upgraded cards you have, for example, so a player with no upgraded cards would only have to pay 1500 (10% of price I suggested), and somebody with, say, a handful (5-6) of upgraded cards would have to pay 3000. Numbers are just to explain the idea, in no way concrete.

@Ash: My suggestion would simply allow players to get a second chance, so to speak, with their nymph. If they spun a color they don't want, they can change the color. Another option would be to allow players to spend a large amount of electrum to randomly change the color of one of their nymphs a day, excluding the colors of any other nymphs you have. This seems like a very practical idea to me, since you're in no way guaranteed a specific color nymph, only a different one (would always change the color, never "choose" the one it already is). A player exchange would let people hoard many nymphs of the same color and get huge advantages in pvp (a deck with 4-5 purple and black nymphs and quintessences would pwn the vast majority of decks out there).

like I said, numbers are just a rough estimate/concept, in no way thought-out.
