End of Year Forum Awards 2014

The Elements Council is happy to present the 4th annual End of Year Forum Awards.

Sometimes, with the passing of days to months, and months to years, it's easy to forget memories, to replace them with new ones. But sometimes, in forgetting memories, we forget parts of ourselves that made those memories special in the first place. As such, I'd like to ask everyone to look back at 2014, with one last glimpse of fondness, before looking forward to 2015 with open arms.

This year, we've added four new categories. To start, Moment of the Year is meant to highlight a specific post, that doesn't exactly fit into any other category, yet is important to the culture of the community, for one reason another. Favorite Brawl or Competition Entry and Favorite PvP Match cover important parts of the community in more specific ways, rewarding individuals or groups for their displays of talent or skill, rather than the events they occured in. Finally, Favorite Forum Game brings the awards to a section not represented here in previous years.

Submit your nominations using this form. When nominating, remember that the purpose of the Awards is not to determine the absolute best, but to reinforce positive memories of the events, threads, and members of the community in the previous year, before carrying them into the future.

Here is a little help for choosing:

Here are all the tournaments played in 2014 from newest to oldest:

• Xmas Time!: Choose a triad of elements and build decks from those.
• Speedbuilding: Potluck Rules: Players have to follow 3 randomly chosen rules.
• Speedtwisting: no rules, quick improvising.
• Limited Resources 2 & Poor Man's Tourney: Build your deck from cheap cards.
• No Country For Old Men: once you used a card from the allowed card list, you can't use it again for the rest of the tournament.
• Specialization 2 & 3: You have to include many copies of the 2 least/most used cards.
• Venomous Poison: You have to include poison-related cards in your deck.
• Submachine's Present: Only one, Fate Egg-based deck can be used.
• HAPPY HALLOWEEN: Each non-pillar/pend card you use must start with the letters H A L O W E N.
• Speedbuilding: a list of allowed cards is posted 15 minutes before the tournament.
• Barbershop Quartet: Quartets with minor restrictions.
• Elementstone: Rainbows, with maximum 2 copies of any non-pillar cards.
• Origins: Only cards from Elements 1.0 are allowed.
• Rotation: Your mark must be changed after every duel in a given order. Decks must have 4-7 cards matching your mark.
• Winter Is Coming: Choose Summer or Winter. You can only use cards from the assigned elements.
• Quanta Control & Quanta Control Returns: All players choose 3 elements before the tournament. They can only build from those elements.
• Inception: All decks must contain 6 Mindgates.
• Tame The Randomness: Use those cards which have random effects.
• The Shoe Cobblers Dilemma: Every deck must have creatures that has 30 legs altogether.
• Powerless 3: Either use upped decks from 2 available elements or unupped decks from 4 available elements.
• Magician Spells: use 9 of the spells with the weakest synergy in any combination.
• World of Tanks: Pick Artillery, Infantry or Cruiser. The sum of your attack/HP/both has to be more than a given number.
• Dilgo Wars IV: Dark Matter's Revenge: base your decks around Armagios and light-gravity cards.
• Trigger Happy & Trigger Happy Reloaded: Vanilla creatures and permanents can't be used. Spells are limited.
• All Your Enemy Are Belong To Us: Voting Tournament! 2 of the most voted cards are banned, some of the least voted cards must be used.
• Glass Cannons: All creatures must have 0 or 1 health.
• Elemental Reunion: Use ALL creatures from your used elements.
• Uniwordular: Cardnames in your deck can't have a space.
• Plants Vs Zombies II: Life vs Death.
• Trapido Trifecta: Trio decks with 30 cards.
• Pendulonium: Only pendulums can generate quanta.
• TTSPS: Speedbuilding with trios.
