Rules for this phase are a bit weird because there were some fundamental flaws in the original rules. Problem was that I assumed everyone would finish phase 1 because it was basically 10 points for free if you spent a couple of hours doing something productive. However a lot of people didn't finish it, which led big differences in score, which led to mathematical elimination and phase 3 being a bit lackluster.
Good news is that through trial and error I now know the "perfect" rules for Trials so we won't be having these problems next time.
