Yeah, this makes the forums a more positive place, but what about the people that deserve the OPPOSITE of karma, like that guy who posted on that other guy's card idea and was the first post saying something like "You suck, gtfo the forums"? He deserves the [-]Karma button. But other than that, it seems like a good idea.

*Note*
I did not mention names above so I would not embarrass anyone.
He doesn't deserve - karma; he deserves an infraction. Karma isn't going to change the way people post.

But it shows to them that people dislike the way he treats people, and he needs to change. That MIGHT change the way he posts.

Report to moderator button would work better.  Assuming, the person did break a rule.

I tried to give The Oracle karma as the embodiment of the new and improved karma system but I couldn't do it because The Oracle has no posts. But The Oracle has 1 karma so someone found a way to get around that. Whoever you are, how did you do it?
It was I who gave the Oracle guy 1 karma before anyone else, It all happened due to me getting +1 karma that day for helping a newbie flushing his dns step by step to get the game working.
I thought to myself you should have full karma or at least over >9000
I gave the Oracle karma via the private msg screen. (I think I suggested in the reason line that he should have the maximum amount possible for karma) Some time later it was changed to a permanent 1337.

How do you give people karma? I cant figure it out.
You need to have 20 posts first. Then the [ + ] under each person's karma will link to a "Karma Change Description" page. Type in your reason for giving them karma and click continue.
Thank you for clearing that up for me.

I still would prefer the [-] karma button. Some people deserve smite. Others dont.

Yes, but the [-] karma button could only be abused.
I think that only people with a forum status could award them.

[/quote]I guess that would be good, so only members with experience could use them.
I suggest that one person in the community has the specific job of checking over the user's karma logs after they give a reason to the karma decrease before the decrease actually happens.

We had a [-] karma button when this system was first introduced. We got rid of it and it's not coming back.

No further discussion about this announcement is really needed so locking thread,
