Recent changes to Karma system

Just a another point:

Karma has to have a negative effect, after all thats what karma is (do good things, good things happen. do bad things, bad things happen)

Since there is now only the "+" option, maybe consider changing the name of the karma to something else (like "Thanks" or something).

Instead of Karma, why not call it "Renown"? Or "Fame"?

-1 Karma for both of you for questioning the Karma system.

Because high karma doesn't necessitate more fame. Although I do see the point that it may need renaming.

If we are to rename this, it's to be something more specific. "Selflessness", "Charitableness", and "Altruism" would all be good if they weren't long, complicated, and technical words.

Another idea:

Make it Elements-related! "Empathy" or "Gratitude"!

"Popularity-index" got turned down for being too shallow though.

I kind of like "Fame" and "Gratitude".

gratitude sounds elementsy with SoG and stuff.

I have performed a ritualistic cleansing. All negative Karma has been erased!

Well, most of it. There are still some left from the early days of the forum when Karma logs were not used. I could go to our database and remove those as well but I don't think it's needed because it only affects a handful of members (one of them being me) and it's only -1 Karma (-2 for me, yay).

Holy crap, I gained 8 Karma overnight!  I had no idea that I had earned THAT much negative Karma. 

I'm really happy to see my crimes forgiven.

Ah, so that sudden change in my karma (5 to 12) was the deletion of my negative karma...

But I still think that Karma should be renamed. I think "Renown" is good, because when you do good things, your renown increases and you get positive karma.

My karma didn't jump at all. It went from 22 to 22. I should be more mean to people. Sigh. Now everyone's catching up to me in the karma race

I bet it was my old friend Bobcamel. He was a very harsh critic in the card ideas section, and I imagine he has a lot of negative karma.

Sudden thought... Why don't we rename karma to QUANTA?!

What about simply gaining a point every day someone doesn't ding you?  It'd be like they have at constructions sites: "___ days without an accident" only your score would reflect days you've behaved yourself.
