Optional forum subscription system coming soon

I had this great idea on how to get more donations.

Soon you can purchase a one-year forum subscription by donating $10 (7€) to Elements developers. Players who "subscribe", get a cool custom title "Friend of Elements" for 365 days. "Friends of Elements" get access to secret forum areas and we'll possibly come up with some other perks as well.

I know this might sound suspicious to some people but there is no hidden catch.

- all the money goes directly to Game Owner using his PayPal account
- this is 100% optional and you do not have to donate anything
- not donating doesn't restrict your basic forum usage in any way (it remains as it is)

I'd like to hear feedback on this idea.

I agree. Also, we should try to make everyone know about elements.. I'm sure i can find some big sites that could be interested in sponsorizing us... one of these is a math site of international importance, and the owner is close friend with my father... Try to think what elements could be if only this forum had 500+ people, and 10 to 20% of them donated... we could get more and more devs...

What kind of "secret" access are we talking about? I used to have a membership to Brainburst.com a MtG strategy website. Guests could see decklists and basic articles on the tournament metagame and specific card analysis, while members could see complete deck breakdowns and in-depth matchup analysis against the popular/successful deck archetypes. Maybe something like that?

I'd love the idea, but as of now, we need far more cards to realise a think like that. In depht analysis is simple with the not huge number of combos avaiable with the number of cards we have now...

Yep, maybe something like that. Like "Secret Decks" or "Secret Strategy".

I also suggested to Zanz that we could give all "Friends of Elements" access to beta and have secret beta forum section.

But whatever the secret thing will be, it shouldn't be too big and secret. I don't want people who cannot afford to donate to be discriminated. But at the same time it would be nice if people who donated got something extra because they are helping the game to grow.

Oh, and all staff members of course get the same access for free because they are already donating their time. But hopefully staff members will donate cash as well. Lead by example and all that..

But whatever the secret thing will be, it shouldn't be too big and secret. I don't want people who cannot afford to donate to be discriminated. But at the same time it would be nice if people who donated got something extra because they are helping the game to grow.

I think beta access, a beta forum and perhaps a "supporters' lounge" should be enough. Otherwise you'll most likely end up with the same discussions in multiple places, with no (good) way of referring to one from the other.
