Here is a detailed explanation why the forums went down a week ago.
It all started when our domain name provider decided to block our domain
without any reason and without talking to me first. They then blocked all communication and didn't reply to emails or phone calls. And because I as unable to visit them in person and kick their behinds, there was nothing I could do about the situation. It was a nightmare.
I waited a couple of days for a reply, after which I was forced to act because I had no idea if they were ever going to unblock the domain. I decided to move everything under different domain.
ElementsCommunity.com (http://www.elementscommunity.com/)
ElementsCommunity.com/forum (http://www.elementscommunity.com/forum/)
ElementsCommunity.com/wiki (http://www.elementscommunity.com/wiki/)
ElementsCommunity.com/chat (http://www.elementscommunity.com/chat/)The first page acts as a kind of "launchpad" for the game and all the community stuff. It's still under construction and will probably see some changes, but it will basically be just a bunch of links, nothing more. As you can see, different parts of the community sites will be available by adding the name of the site after the main internet address. This will make them easier to remember.
I have also added a 301 redirect system which will redirect all old links to these new domains. So if you click an old forum link, the address will be automatically rewritten to match the new domain. It's still a good idea to fix any old links if you have them in your signatures or something.
Good thing about this domain change was that I was able to use it as an excuse to update our forum software. I will talk about that project in the topic I will start next.
Sorry about the inconvenience caused by this domain failure. If it's any consolation, I switched to the #1 domain service provider, so the same failure cannot happen again.
