Karma system 1.0

this may end up being a bad idea or a good idea. it all depends on how people react to their karma rating. some people can have ideas that seem perfect in their mind but not to others and they in result get a bad karma thingy. that may anger alot of people, and then lead to troll accounts. but at the same time, it could encourage members to post more ideas they believe to be good, which in turn, makes forums a much more joyous place. its all about how people react. and judging how many people in the world have internet access, can be a train reck. i think people should be limited to the amount of ratings they can deliver unto others before they go through a screening process held by a mod/admin to see if they are not completely unreasonable. just to make sure people dont abuse their free speech, like so many do (unfortunatly)

Also, how @SG, how do you make that fancy 'line' in the middle of your posts - sort of handy for jumping from talking about turning into frogs and something more serious.

Lastly, I think a Karma system is okay, provided people use it responsibly. I've generally started Rating posts (mostly in the Ideas section) 1 Star if they are just a card name, a cost, and a poorly enunciated description of how this card 'killz everithing on the screen'. And 5 stars if they've gone through the time and the effort to explain how and why their card is useful, the pro's and con's it has etc....

to get that line, just click on the button that has a double ended arrow when you reply or start a topic. or you can just be pro and type the less than sign "hr" and greater than sign all together.

And to stay on topic, I hope the karma system doesn't get bogged down with people just spamming negative karma. but what you added, so you can see any karma stalkers is a great addition. should help things a lot.

This is the other option we can have. Total Karma.

We cannot have both without me going to edit the source code.

I personally like total Karma more because this way there is less crap under avatar.

This total Karma is better, because you see how much Karma he has at all and not what he has in positive and negative.

You need 20 posts to be able to click Karma buttons. This is to prevent people from doing accounts just to spam Karma.

Only 8 more posts and those buttons will appear.

So the 1 hour wait between giving karma only applies per person you give karma to? I just gave three different people a +1 with no restriction between them. That's intended...yes?

I went to check the log.. You are right, all 3 Karma actions were submitted into the database.

I made some changes.. can you (or someone) try it again?

Tried it again. I could successfully give three separate people karma.
