Thanks. ;)

Well, I know there's a little animosity here and I'm going to try to ease some of it by making one simple point.

This is not a "title". It is a responsibility.

Having any sort of position in this community is a binding dedication that we have to make. We don't do it for flashy titles or respect or pride, we do it because we want to help the community become a bigger, better place for everyone, and we are entitled to do so.

:o

I will remember to tell the random newbie who PM me for deck help to F'off and ask who for advise from now on!
Just because you don't have a position doesn't mean that you're not entitled to help. Anyone can help anyone else, and pushing away this sort of thing simply isn't going to help anybody.

Anyways, there were 2 slots for the position and lots of great entries. Of course there will be some upsets, and I don't doubt Yala's deckbuilding awesomeness, but there simply isn't room. Like I said, it's a responsibility, but anyone else can help pitch in any time they want.

When I'm giving out titles, veteran members are almost always picked first. This is because they are more likely to stick around longer, and it's also a good way to reward their loyalty.

Also one thing that will guarantee a person won't get chosen is drama. It's like hiring people in real life. You pick the ones you think you can work with. If you get a feeling that the person might cause problems, you are not going to hire that person.
Veteran members...that already have other assignments in their portfolio?

I think the priority ought to be picking the ones the COMMUNITY can work with. In fact voting should be more relevant to this appointment than it is to say, picking a master of an element.

I'm sorry but I have to say while Yala's post in response is a little overdone, there is some truth in it *winces*  :(

(EDIT: If there is a need for me to demonstrate my impartiality, please do consider me out of the running for this job)
The fact that yala's post is overdone proves SG's position. She is saying that it will be difficult to work with him since he is always being dramatic. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but when he is publicly complaining about not getting a position that show's a lack of maturity.

And statistically, those who are unhappy with a choice or decision are more likely to voice their opinion than those that are happy - so people complaining in this thread shows nothing about the entire community's response to the choices. I, for one, am very happy and think that the community will be happy with Puppy and Icy as the deck helpers.

Furthermore, the deck helper's job will lie most heavily with helping new players. While Yala has many great FG decks, some of which are extremely clever (i personally like the heavy quintet), I have seen him work mostly with fully upgraded decks and FG decks. Complaining publicly is no way to get things done and is only reinforcing the choice that was made.

This just goes to show that you wanted the title, not the responsibility..

It is a responsibility, that unfortunately has been put into the context of a title. Maybe we should abolish it altogether because this is supposed to be something altruistic. But assuming that doesn't happen, which I don't think it will, I have a very simple question for you:

Would you relinquish the title for Yala and be the one to pitch in instead?

This topic is for informing people about icybrakers and PuppyChows promotion, and to give everyone a chance to congratulate them. This in not for forum drama.

If someone feels they deserved the title more than these two, feel free to PM me and I'll give more details.

I don't understand what the big deal is. Icy and Puppy earned the title.
Just because you don't have a blue name doesn't mean that people won't ask you for help.

Theres a reason everyone can post in the deck help section.

I believe the point of this job is to make sure there are two people actively helping people out with their decks on a daily basis, so in addition to all the people that post on threads and comment in chat, there will be two people dedicated to the task. The people she chose reflect this, since they've been around since the beginning and can be trusted with this responsibility.

Congrats, Icy and Puppy! I look forward to seeing your efforts to post on Deck Help and respond to Deck questions in chat invigorated ^_^

I will probably appoint more Deck Helpers at some point. My current plan is to always start with two, and then appoint more if needed.

I'm very confident that I made the right choices here, especially after the discussion on this thread. I have to say I found out some very interesting new information.

A tip for everyone looking for a job on this forum or in real life: If you are not chosen for a particular job, do not start ranting about it, insulting and threatening your potential employer. That will only lead to you never getting a job in that company/forum.

Now we have a big project ahead, Deck Archive. I still haven't fully figured out what would be the best way to do this but hopefully newly appointed Deck Helpers have some ideas. Also community feedback/ideas will be welcome. Post your comments here: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,6931.msg81912#msg81912

puppy: awesome at helping guests on chat, is an epic deck builder and got me my 6th sor (How is this relevant?)
icy: is awesome at deckbuilding and helping out the little guy. plus im on his list (Again, not relevant :| )
yala: ok hes being an ass right now (I would be too!) but he has helped many newbs at building decks plus has 1337 epic level (Not really relevant tbh).
This just goes to show, people choose people that they are close to,
Kinda of like a "You scratch my back, I scratch yours" kinda thing.

My judgement: Unfair.

I think this was a fair decision why because you've earned one thing should you not be allowed another are you going to go to England in the World Cup, I'm sorry but you already won one so you're not allowed this one.

Anyone else think it's weird seeing air next to Icy's name :P.

Congrats to Icy and PuppyChow.

Hopefully we'll hire more Deck Helpers as soon as the community begins expanding exponentially, including those that recently applied and are still passionate about the job.  :)
