"Forum Games" and spamming that goes on around there

yep i agree but i think a good way is to just make a separate SPAM GAMES on the forum game .

But that will increase loading times when going on to this website, because of all the spam.

The whole point of this is to reduce loading times, having a separate section for spam games makes no difference

Organization (good games getting lost among spam games) is not the issue here, and neither is loading time. Those are other reasons for deleting the spam games, but the main reason is a lack of disk space, as SG said in her original post:

At the moment it's not a huge deal but as our forum grows and "Forum Games" becomes bigger and bigger, it's starting to use too much space on our forum database, which means we are using more and more server resources.

Moving the spam games to a subforum might keep the good games from getting lost, but it would most likely encourage us to have even more spam games. Even if it didn't, the directory tree for the forums would be that much more complex, and so would take up more space and longer to load.

I would like to apply for the Forum Games modship. That whole area was basically my idea in the first place ^^; And I will probably be losing my Fire Master title shortly anyway.

When did anyone say anything about applying if we're supposed to be I would but not sure if we are.

EDIT: Also (unless if you're just talking about the off-topic section) then the stats actually say card ideas has more posts followed by general discussion unless if I misunderstand what it means by activity.

"Card Ideas" section was here from the beginning, like 9 months ago or something. "Forum Games" has been here for only a couple of months and it will be number 1 very soon. It's like a virus that cannot be stopped.

Oh so you were basing it on how much posts it has based on the time it's been around.

Well, yeah, kind of.

What I'm saying is that those stats lie. More posts are posted in "Forum Games" than ALL the other forum sections combined! The reason why "Forum Games" is only on 3rd place is that it's only been around for a couple of months while most other sections like "Card Ideas" and "General Discussion" has been for 9 months. Every single month "Forum Games" takes one giant leap towards the 1st place.

Frankly, I care nothing about those spam games. As long as we get to keep the Elements RPGs in that section, it's fine with me.

OK. You said "taking up too much space" and didn't mention time at all, so I thought space was the issue.

So is it the number of threads that's causing the problem, or the total number of posts? You say threads here, but posts in your latest post. Would loading times be faster if we had the same number of posts, but in fewer threads?

Also, does the entire database have to be loaded in order to load the forums' homepage? If space isn't an issue, it might be possible to add metadata so that only users who go to the Forum Games page need to load those threads.

Hey Scaredgirl, at another place where I moderate, the Fun, Games, and Tomfoolery board (Forum Games equivalent) is made so that no posts add to your post count.  Do you think that would help out here, or would even be possible due to the different forum setup?
