Just curious, but why not the Kong chat? Its integrated onto the same screen, and I know a lot of the Elements players have a Kong account.

Kong is a separate community from EtG where our Mods have no access. In other words, we wouldn't even be able to moderate the chat or change the topic like you can on IRC. As a parenthesis, I have much more control on IRC than any other chat protocol, and it's a huge plus.

Besides that, the EtG community is pretty tightly knit and have our own thing going on.

There are also other chat rooms than the 1 that everybody uses.  Most I've ever seen in room #2 was like 30 I think, and there are 14 rooms dedicated to elements.  Everybody, including the noobs, just play on the first room.  The room would only be the people who would usually go to your elements chat.
 

@Higurashi: ok I see your point, control would be a big factor. Its just nice to have it integrated on the game screen, and I know that some people have problems accessing the chat.  And lol, I know its tightly knit, I'm trying to penetrate it >.<

Besides the biggest fact, not everyone owns a kongregate account and forcing community to make one isn't the nicest thing.

The original Elements chatroom is now back up and accessible via the forum tab at the top. The IRC channel will always be around as backup, and I'm always in there if I'm online.
