I'm honored that 58% of the community think I'm the right person for this job.

You do have a big name among the people, but how do you claim 58%? you only recieved 12% of votes.

Let's not have a petty debate over who got how many votes, and instead just enjoy the fact that we have our first, working Elements Council.

1/1 of my votes made the council , and I was dissapointed seeing jmdt with 16 votes before he'd even made a post.

While there probably was some Kong effect* in these numbers, I'm pretty sure jmdt would have still won the vote given it was a landslide victory. He's a popular character because of his work as a Deck Helper, and his AI3 statistics studies, so this results shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

In retrospect, I probably should have made the poll so that only Jr. Members or above can vote. That would have given a more accurate picture of who the community wants to see in the council. Although I personally think that the results would have been pretty much the same.

We'll keep out the "noobs" next time we vote.


*Kong effect is a situation where an active Kongregate member, possibly after some advertising on Kongregate forums or chat, suddenly gets a lot of votes from newly joined members.

I'm actually surprised the Kong effect was not greater.  I did not compaign on Kong, at all actually, but there were those on Kong that tried to promote Kong members.  The effort looks mostly unsuccessful seeing as Guolin and I are the only Kong players that made it, and probably would have regardless.
