Voting tip #1
Don't just vote for someone who you think is cool, or who is a good PvP player. Vote for someone who is active and who always participates in discussions related to forum improvements and new events.

I think that post count is a very good place to start because people with higher post count generally contribute more. Look how many months the candidate has been on the forums, and then look at how many posts he/she has. That should give you some kind of idea on the overall activity of that member. If you simply vote for a cool player who rarely contributes to anything, gratz, you just helped to make the council less useful.

I figured I'd point this out. Hopefully it can help people decide who to vote for, especially if they are interested in forum activity and the "diversity" that was mentioned previously. If you look at a user's stats, you can see how much time they spend online, how many posts they make in a section, and the percentage of a section that is their posts. The second and third parts only show the top ten for that user. For instance, let's look at Scaredgirl's stats:

I'll skip explaining the general stats and posting activity by time sections... they should be self explanatory. The most popular boards by posts section is simple also; it just shows the top ten boards you've posted in. The only confusing thing about it is the "pie charts." They aren't percentage pie charts. Basically, if you have the most posts in a board, your chart for that board is shown as full (I'm pretty sure that's how it works anyway). Take a look at the Forum News and Announcements board stat from SG's stats page. The pie chart is completely full, meaning she has the most posts in that section.  Lastly, and what I find the most interesting, is the most popular boards by activity section. This compares a user's activity in a board with everyone else on the forum. SG currently has 100% of the activity in the "Elements Council"  board because she is the only person to have posted their. She has made exactly 50% of the posts in the deck archive board.

If you aren't sure how to find a person's stat page, just go to their profile, hover over the "profile info" tab, then click "show stats." Hopefully this will help everyone see exactly how a candidate spends their time on the forum, and what sections/topics they care about the most.

I guess I should be first to explain why I want to be on the council.

     Hello everyone, my name is Dragoon1140 and I am probably one of the most active people anybody will meet on chat, let alone the forum.  As many of you know, I host a Youtube account of various Elements videos, which I am making in my spare time.  I try not to stay too serious, having fun is the whole reason we are all on the forum.  Yet, one of my greatest fears of the Council is that things just might not get done fast enough, which is why I want to join:  I want to get things done on time.  Nothing is more frustrating than a person who procrastinates.

     I do love Elements.  Likewise, I also love this community and what it has to offer.  I want to give back, and I think this is the way to do it.  With the exception of Monday-Thursday in the middle of the day, I am likely to be online, whether it be the forums or the chat.  I don't like to make enemies, so I try to be kind and fair to everybody.

     I do hope everyone votes for me, but I will not complain if I don't make the cut.  After all, there will be others ways I can contribute, but I honestly do think I am active and fair enough to represent this position in the Elements community.

Don't be afraid to ask me any questions, I will not hesitate to answer them when I see them.

Why should you vote for me? A number of reasons. I've been with this community for a pretty long time, and I've got quite some experience with it. Not in the last place because I've been active with a lot of projects for it; I've been a Tournament Organizer, I'm a chat mod, I've done a lot of artwork and play a good bit of Elements.  Of course, the most recent project I've take up might be my biggest one - the Elements Art Class.

The reason I'd be a good addition to the Council is because I'm not afraid to speak my mind, and bump some heads when needed. I know how to present my opinion and support it, and keep a level head in it.

Anyone who has been on the forum for more than 3 months and has more than 200 posts has already shown they care for the game and the community.  I think every one of the candidates will act in the best interest of the forum.  The best way to make the Council as beneficial as can be is to make sure there is a diversity of opinion and talent.

Whereas other candidates may be focused on scheduling or constantly coming up with new ideas, my emphasis will be on doing things right.  What is right for the Elements community is communicating events in a clear and comprehensive way.  The more people that can find and understand what happens on the forum and in the game, the less confusion and duplication of efforts there will be.  This will save time and allow us all to focus on the fun.

CANDIDATE: Hyroen

   I would like to start off by pointing out that there are indeed strong candidates in this election and whoever does make it into council will have deserved it. The following will perhaps be long, but you will know that I have committed my time to this, like I would to Council.

   To introduce myself, I am a 19 year old South American teenager who loves Elements the Game and its community. I manage to balance my love life, school, work and fun, and sometimes fun gets a little too much of the pie. Simply from seeing my numerous contributions to the Card Suggestions section of the forum one can see that I would sincerely like to see the game and its community grow alongside. Asking most of the candidates will result in you finding out that I am also quite the avid fan of chat (http://elementschat.co.cc/), which is an important real-time form of communication, helping to organizing events with other community members and in the future, discussing with other council members in regards to decisions and plans.

   I can also proudly say that I am a strong proponent of social justice and standing up for one's values. At this point I'd like to bring your attention to one of my comments:

The interesting thing about this comment, is that the quote that's within my comment was made shortly after I became indignant towards a sudden and brash decision made by Moderators regarding a competition for a title which had a devastating blow to the chances of some of those running for that title. I figured the community should have had a say in the matter, and perhaps it was due to that, that the idea of the Elements Council was born. Having a blindfold towards popularity and knowing how it is to be new in the community leaves me in a good position to be making fair council decisions.

   I am also proud to say that half of my High School life was enriched by Student Council, the first year having been its Treasure, the prime role of trust, and the second year having been its Executive Advisor, whose sage counsel is asked for in good times and in bad. My 2 consecutive years being in council I believe prepared me for this particular aspect of the community. If not the work aspect of being in a council is needed, then the social skills required to work as a team, I definitely have and improved over those years.

   In the end, it is my sincere desire to see this idea flourish and prosper regardless of who is elected. I am a true believer of community effort and as we all see in our decks, synergy between cards is almost always better than one card on its own and in the same way, I hope to be an important part of the deck that is Elements Council.

I want to help out with the community. Why do I choose the Elements Council to do that? Because, it is the part of the community I most feel fit for. Things here need to be done the correct way. People need to know that whoever is on the council, isn't going to just randomly stop playing one day without any reason. I'm one of those people. I don't care if people don't agree with me, and I listen to what other people have to say (even if I don't agree ) Anyone on the council needs to be big enough to admit it when they are wrong, be able to make tough choices, and be able to discuss things rationally, without going into name-calling. I would qualify in all those things, and I want to help the community. Even if I don't make council however, I will still be here to help

the council is about helping the elements community to grow and grow even more.
the vote should not be compared to the user's contribution but the vote should be compared to what will he contribute when he is in the council.
the members of the elements council should not have:
a hard head
high pride
know it all attitude

not because your famous it does'nt mean you could do the best job as one of the members of the council...(See also my signature)

Ok, right from the start, I feel disadvantaged. My post count isn't very high, I've never had a flashy forum title, and hell, who wants to vote in a gue with the name "DrunkDestroyer"?. What maked him think he could ever do anything at all?
Yeah, my name probably won't help me much in this vote.

But, I still think I should be on the council.
I have played elements for a while now, been grinding and experimenting most of the time (didn't find the forums until relatively recently). I play elements because of the creative aspect mostly, not the grinding aspect. And I want to help extend and expand the creative aspect (card idea's, tournaments ect). I'm not the kind of person who will tell you which deck is slightly faster than another for grinding, or which are easiest to play while watching TV. I feel people should discover things on their own, but with help (eg: People going up mt everest. Sure, theyre doing it for themselves, but they follow a specific trail and are guided the whole way in case anything happens). I want the community to move, rather than towards grinding, but towards fun.
This argument is heavily skewed, and I understand if I lose the votes of pro grinders. I wouldn't be surprised really. But Hopefully, if you play elements, for the creativity, the combinations, and the excitement and accomplishment after something works, then I would consider voting for me. Yes, voting for a guy with "Drunk" in his name.
But that is the future of elements I want, and that is what I will fight for if voted in.

Hello all, this is Nume (Nuume from Kongregate). I am very active on the forums, and always check them multiple times daily. I am a 22 year old college student studying computer information systems (computer programming specifically). I have served in leadership positions in other games as well (namely World of Warcraft and Kingdoms at War). I love to solve problems, and am always up for a good debate. I am willing to listen to people's opinions, and if they make valid points that I cant dispute my opinion can be changed. I would like to serve on the council because I think I have a solid understanding of the way the game works and the direction its heading, and I would like to serve in a position where my understanding can go to use.
