Glad to see this getting started.  Ya'll did a good job, it looks nice.

Originally I was thinking nominations would be done mostly by posting a response (with the option of sending a pm).  That way there would be some discussion on the forums, which is kinda the whole point of having forums - isn't it?  Hopefully there will be more participation once the polls are up.  That being said, here's my picks:

Favorite Community Member
zanzarino, duh.

Favorite New Member
TStar.  Sorry noobs, but he is hands down the best addition to the forums in 2011.

Staff Member of the Year
kevkev.  Trials, Warmaster and former Master of Fire to boot.

Best Topic
Obviously End of Year Forum Awards (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,34275.0.html), otherwise we wouldn't be giving out these awards in the first place.  : P

Funniest Topic
Air Propaganda, we only came in 3rd place with the best comic ever made in the history of the forums ever.

Biggest Fail Topic
Air Propaganda, for coming in 3rd place (only 1st and 2nd gain cards).

Best Event
Draft.  There were two of them in 2011 so it should get 2x votes.

Best Competition
I wanted to vote Icon Art but that was back in 2010.  Have another Icon Art competition!

Best PvP Player
TStar, has the most tournament wins of the year.  Dominating BL isn't too shabby either, though that's only cause I didn't sign up.  : P

Best Card Art
Well it's not a card, but I personally like the Kravian Cup (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,23294.0.html) by Krava.

Best PvP Deck
It's a Trap! by Rootranger.  Though it's probably one of those pvp decks that should have been kept a secret.

Didn't fill out the rest, so I hope the wiki-goers and card creators do their share of nominating too.

I considered it but I think it would have made the whole nomination thing way too big of a deal. We have a Council of 12 members for situations like this, and they, with the help of community nominations, will discuss and choose the 6-12 best candidates for each category. And after we have the candidates, then we can start the community-wide discussions. It's like with real-life award shows: candidates are picked behind the scenes, and the discussion and voting starts when the candidates are made public.

Google Docs makes the process much more fluid because all the data goes in one place and can be sorted easily. If we used forum replies and PM's, it could get messy really fast. I don't think forum/PM's would be a terrible way to do it, but I think Google Docs just does it better.

Sure, but filling out a form leaves no room to justify your nomination.  Hopefully we have a non-biased all knowing and wise council for that.  : P

And in award shows like The Oscars, there is rampant bribery and pages are taken out in Variety as advertisments for potential nominations.  So next year when you post a good thread you might want to mention in chat that it's a possible E.C.A. 2012 contender.  : P

Yea, I was planning on including "why?" section to some categories, but I was in a rush so I forgot about it. In categories like "Favorite New Member", that "why" would have been useful, in case there are some "that newbie helped me" stories or whatever. But luckily most categories are so that our Council of smart veteran players should be able to pick the best ones.

And in award shows like The Oscars, there is rampant bribery..
We have that too. Thanks for all the codes guys! Keep them coming.

Ironic bribe since SG has all the codes to begin with, it's probably not gonna work.  And honestly, if I'm giving up a code I want results not just some lousy nomination.

Maybe I can sway some down on his luck council member with electrum.  Anyone had a bad run against the FG's lately?  Got those Bazaar payments coming up?  I have 3000 :electrum from a 2nd place if you can guarantee me the Best PvP Player award.

The Council does not take bribes. We are too legit for that.

Also, we only accept nymphs and marks.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Auburn? Nah, got it.

More seriously, unupped nymphs/marks are widely considered better. Mainly because you cannot unupgrade things.

He is hoping his feigned ignorance about upped Nymphs and claim of zero tourneys or events played wins him sympathy votes in the Best New Member category.  Sneaky Naesala, very sneaky.
