There were some problems with the original system I had planned so I changed it. Contrary to what the original topic says, all Council Members will be selected using a vote, meaning staff members do not become Council Members automatically. This will make the whole process much easier for us, and prevents a situation where people who have no time/interests are forced to become Council Members.


1. Becoming a candidate
All community members have a chance to become Council Member candidates if they meet the following requirements:
- Joined the forums no less than 3 months ago
- Full Member (200+ posts)

To become a candidate, simply reply to this topic and express that you want to become a candidate. Later when we start the vote, you can explain in detail why you should be chosen.


2. Community Vote
Every community member gets a predetermined number of votes depending on how many candidates we have. It will probably be something between 3 and 6.


3. Forming the Elements Council
12 Candidates with the most votes will form the first Elements Council. Council will make decisions that affect the Elements community, mainly by appointing new staff members and coming up with ideas on how to improve the community. All suggestions will be put on a vote. Scaredgirl will act as the 13th Council Member to break ties.


4. Future of the Council
We will have a new vote every 3 months. We might also increase the number of Council Members to 24.

I'm also interested, but I get the feeling that people who already have positions will probably not get to be a part of the Council. ^^;; I guess it doesn't hurt to try out though.

I'm willing to bet that previous titles will help tremendously in the vote. It's much more difficult to get votes when you are a "nobody" without any titles.

Also I will make sure that everyone understands that being a council member will in no way affect the job performance of staff members or Masters. At a bare minimum, all council members need to do is show up when it's time to vote. Of course I'm hoping we get active members in the council who have ideas for improvement as well.
