Do what i am doing... look through all of the forum topics that you can and add your thoughts, opinions, ideas... It isnt too difficult at all.  And like I did, as I was looking around I had an Idea for my own New Topic in one of the sections...

easiest way is to click the button that says something on the lines of 'Mark all as Read' and it will say you have no new posts in any threads
then the next time you come on click on either (or both separately) "Show unread posts since last visit" (new threads) or "Show new replies to your posts" (replys on threads you have commented on)
this way you can join in with the up-to-date action and not annoy people by commenting on posts that have been left for months....

You can't choose the newer cards (fractal, phoenix, mummy, hope, etc). That can be a problem for n00bs XD
