Surely you can join as the new council won't come in to place until your 3 month mark. Ask SG to see what she says.

12 was a lot; seeing how there was disappearing and inactivity, its quite obvious that 12 wasnt even needed. I dont know why the increase in number. Not everyone should get a seat, and I'm pretty sure with 18 members in, 10+ will be mute and enjoy their pretty picture above the avatar.

I would also be interested how many would apply if council members were kept secret.

I don't have much of an opinion on the council but I think I agree with Malduk. It seems like opening a body like this up to wider membership just leads to more people who will drop out or be inactive. Better to keep it competitive and have fewer, more active members than to have half of the people involved not bother to do anything.

I think SG's thinking on this is that if there are 18 members, and half are inactive, at least thats still 9 ppl giving good ideas rather than half of 12 (6). I realize that ideally you'd have the 12 best as the chosen, but realistically great people can end up going inactive for reasons outside the game, so having a larger number in the council gives a better chance of having a higher real number (not necessarily percentage of council wise) of active people in it contributing ideas and helping.

This doesn't make much sense. What happens if a person from the council has to leave for a week or so to deal with real life situations? Should this rule apply to an incredibly active person on the council forums, but doesn't get responses from anyone else in regards to their comments?

I don't think any Council members should be kicked; there needs to be a very important reason for a person to be removed from the council/have a title removed altogether, and being inactive for 1 week out of 12 (where they might be giving out comments and suggestions on a daily basis) shouldn't be a factor.

That said, 18 may be pushing it, but I find that if the council needs more fresh blood, the better.
