From being on Council: short and concise applications are best ;D (not too short though.... looks at Dm1321)

I'm a concise and straightforward underachiever.

My votes are as follows:

SpikeSpiegel
ji412jo
Naesala
Submachine
theelkspeaks
dark ripper
ddevans96
majofa

Unfortunately because I'm so new to the forums all I really had to go on were the applications and the above-mentioned members all had the best ones in my opinion. Good luck to all candidates and can't wait to hear who is elected  :)

wew so long, reading take 30 minute, when about to vote accidently click refresh and forgot everything, read for 30 more minute, I think people should write less in the application, and focus more on the main idea of your application, sorry for my bad english,I am not from america

You mean like:

No offense mrpaper. But yeah, I personally only said the words I felt were needed to be said. And there wasn't a word limit to restrict me...

Well, I assumed since I'm in this commmunity forever, my dedication in every events/war should speak louder then 2-3 little sentences saying I wanna be in the council and you won't regret it.... But it seems I was wrong at least for you ( so probably for others too).  Then again, so few are still around from when I joined, they won't vote for me so I guess we will see in a few days how dumb of a move it was/wasn't

Please don't get me wrong; your dedication to the forums and your contributions are much more important than your application. But IMO your application shows how much you want to be in council and it's good if you actually dedicate some time to it. Of course, I haven't held short applications against anyone; a person's actions are more crucial than his words (which could even be false or half-true).

I don't want to start an arguing nor a flame, but I was surprised when i saw former council members applying for the 8th council.

Last council went almost inactive, so i don't understand why they applied again. To go inactive again? I hope not.

Talkin' with the only one active council member (Dm, God bless him), it came out that some of the last council members were just lurking around the forum, the only activity was to give votes in hiring polls; now, imho it's too little, hiring staff position is something that at least should be discussed between council members...

Moreover a council member should be active, because if you think that your work is only to cast a vote, then you din't understand at all what's your duty.

And I'm writing this because I've a terrible deja-vu: when the 7th council was set up, I was strongly opposed to having again in council former members, since the 6th council went inactive; few staffers have heard me and this is the result, we're voting on the ruins of a council that if it was not for Dm, it would have died a long, long time ago.

I hope the community consider this too, when voting.

Nah, that's not the result. That's the result of a Council having a much too long term. The reason I didn't switch out the Council after 3 months was because there was not enough work for me to need their assistance. The Council is there to lighten the workload of the Admin and get feelers out everywhere on the pulse of the community. With a new Council, we can pick up old projects that haven't been relevant because there hasn't been enough community drive to resume them.

The remaining Councillors of majo, Chapuz, Dm and Calindu should rather be praised for staying much, much longer than the rest of the appointed council. They're an example of people I could have on Council forever as they never seriously shirk their duties and are more or less eternal members of the community. That's if I ever decide install a different Council system where I can replace Councillors one by one as they go inactive instead of having terms.

I'm sorry Higu, but i agree with you only in part.

They indeed are respectable members, and they indeed helped the community a lot, and for that I'm one the first to say thanks.

I didn't like at all how council members behaved in last months, but maybe you're right and the long term is the cause...

Of course, no malice at all in what I wrote. Just an opinion.

Opinions are good. Some people are afraid to tell them if it's likely not to match other people's opinion.
However, Spike always speaks out honestly, even when it might look like arguing when it is not the case.

I think this is why we need Spike too for new Council.
And we keep driving into the night

Dm1321 and I worked well together, in part, because we didn't agree a lot.... lol
