What is Master of Games?Master of Games is not a Forum Game in itself. It is a game of Forum Games.
How does it work?
When playing a Forum Game, there may sometimes be a winner (e.g. Scarab) or a winning team (e.g. Push). The winner will receive some points for a special leaderboard. The player atop the leaderboard will get an award, which he/she will keep until someone else gets the lead. The current icon may be redesigned.
Mafia games will also award points to the winning team (the mafia, the town folk, or third parties), but will have its own separate system. There will be a separate icon for winning the most mafias (regardless of which side they were on more).
Do I get points for past victories?
Yes, but please notify a Forum Game Organizer if there is an inconsistency in awarding points retroactively vs. current winners.
How do I know which games will count?
The definition of a 'game' is subjective to every person, but there's a general rule of thumb here. While some games require more strategy, skill, and/or cooperation than others, there are three main rules for a forum game to count towards the Master of Games rankings:
- The game in question provides a tangible 'goal' and non-random responses in order to 'play' (Corrupt a Wish, Vending Machine 5.0, etc. don't count as they lack a vision for how to 'win')
- Games that failed to end correctly due to inactivity, mismanagement, bad structure/rules, or from a lack of a clear winner will not gain points (even retroactively).
- The game must be part of the Forum Games section. Unofficial games in other sections (Off-topic, General Discussion, etc.) will not count.
Is this a Master Title like Master of Time? Or Card Curator? Or Global Moderator? Will I get special privileges if I'm a Master of Games/Mafia Master?
No, and no. There will be no special title underneath your name like the major staffing positions, nor will you get access to other boards or whatnot for being a Master of Games/Mafia Master. This is all just for 'fun'. >_>
