It is fully plausible my logic has failed me, but I have it narrowed down to 3 possibilities.  I figure it is "get it right here on guess 7" or lose by tie-breaker by getting it right on guess 8 with 1-or-2 fewer total result-icons.

So, as I have done a couple times in this competition I toss it up to lady luck and rub the Oracle's belly for favor:

Oh wait, I misinterpreted what you said here. You're right. You needed to solve it on turn 7 to win. That means theelkspeaks won there.

If anyone cares to compile them, I'd be interested in reviewing stats overall such as "average turns to solve (throughout)" and "average result-icons per guess" etc for the all the competitors in a nifty table output!
