Word Games area (**UPDATED**) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2424.msg19575#msg19575

In the Off Topic section of course. But a big thing I love about many forums are their word games they have. They are fun, and give the constant forum lurker like me something to do on a slow day, or just when the topics you are waiting on a response from haven't gotten a response yet. I would use just the general Off Topic area for it, but that might get a little messy.

Everyone put down your ideas you want for the first word game with some explanation of how it works. I'll wait a little while then put up a poll with the ideas I get.

Interesting idea. Let's get started, shall we. What game shall we approach first?

Well i know of a few off the top of my head. it's never anything large usually just a few words per post:

Corrupt a wish
Description: Pretty self explanatory. You corrupt the person before you's wish and then make a new wish.
Example:
Poster A: I wish for peace on earth.

Poster B: Granted, but it lasts for only a second. I wish to be able to speak every language fluently.

Poster C: Granted, but your tongue no longer works. I wish for a new laptop.

Etc.

Vending Machine
Description: Insert something into the "Vending Machine" and the next poster says what you get.
Example:

Poster A: Inserts shoe into vending machine.

Poster B: You get a rabid weasel! Inserts soda can into vending machine.

Poster C: You get a fairy! Inserts coin into vending machine.

Etc.

3 Word Story
Description: First person starts a small little story using only three words and then each post after continues, using only three words.
Example:

Poster A: There once was

Poster B: a little cow

Poster C: that liked to

Ect.

Word Association
Description: First person types a word, and the next person says what they associate or what the word makes them think of.
Example:

Poster A: Elements

Poster B: Elements >> Aether

Poster C: Aether >> Immaterial

Etc.

This or That
Description: First person gives a "this or that" to choose from, the next person chooses and comes up with the next "this or that"
Example:

Poster A: Elements or M:TG

Poster B: Elements. Tv or Computer

Poster C: Computer. Playstation or Xbox

Etc.

And I know tons more and I would love to see any new ones I haven't seen before that this community might bring.

Oh hell yes, I support this.
Granted we will have multiple games at once, and then comes the question of if posting in that subforum will actually yield posts.

Yeah, of heard of most of these. and Questions, where the entire conversation is held using questions, and games where you have to find the similarity between them.

Ok, put up a poll or something to choose the first game. +Karma, Kami, for starting this awesome thread.

That's pretty interesting. I especially like the "Corrupt a wish". :) Pretty cool stuff.

But as for it's own section.. that's not going to happen.. yet.

This forum is all about numbers. Just start a thread in Off-Topic and lets see what happens. If the thread(s) get massive traffic, I'll start a child forum. If not, we'll leave them where they are.

Will this sections post count for the level system?

At the moment all posts count for your total posts. If we make this new area, I might have to reconsider the policy.

I strongly suggest that they do not. I know a number of forums where members basically spammed these games in order to have a "legitimate" method of increasing their post count.

Well since post count matters a lot, Why not have a poll to decide which game, as stated above, and only have maybe one or two games going at once. That way people can't spam a bunch of games at once, and if they posting after themselves, an mod can adjust that accordingly. Of course I would put the rules, or whoever makes the thread, that state absolutely not double posting or multiple postings after oneself. I will put up a poll to determine the first game.

Everyone put down your ideas you want for the first word game with some explanation of how it works. I'll wait a little while then put up a poll with the ideas I get.

Yes, there has to be a way of limiting the spam. This "posting after oneself" you suggested is one solution. We might even go further than that for example there has to be 5 posts after yours before you can post again.

I would like it more when the posts in this area wouldn't count...
