I'm just gonna be picky here and say that "Should Be" isn't "Will Be" and, since the dangerous part of the route may change, we may be in for some nasty surprises. =P Likewise, assuming we only move 1 hex per day (as I understood from the rules), counting the shortest possible path, we would still take 12 days to reach Burning City. 12 days of "Pretty Dangerous" doesn't sound promising to me.

Either way, I'm just going with the majority for now.

Edit : Don't forget a middle route is also possible.

I'm up for Road one. it will start dangerous when we have the most energy and better defences, and as we get closer to our destination it will become easier as we become more tired out, and not needing as much energy.

I think this logic is sound. I will vote for route one, after this:

Question to the guide! If I'm not misunderstanding this map, route one will take us through Moord, correct? Can you describe Moord? Its hostility/hospitality, its resources, whether we can safely pass through unhindered, those sorts of attributes. Thank you.

The pilgrimage chose to start from the northmost road.

Location: Hills SouthWest of Rokk
Pilgrimage: Sane. All 12 (main) pilgrims are alive.
Surroundings: Gemfinders Caves

Second Day.

While the road may not be the easiest to walk, the gemfinders living in this area ensure protection. Some of them offer to escort the pilgrims through the hills, as there are rich strands of hematite on the road to Moord, and they could use company. The miners are starting to be startled by rumors of Gargoyles guarding the Hematite. One of the gemfinders mutters: "There are no gargoyles, you kids are easily scared. We'd have heard them."
 
Option 1) Travel with the Gemfinders to the Hematite Deposit. There may be Gargoyles waiting at the Deposit, as there may not be. Gargoyles should have no interests in attacking pilgrims anyway.

Option 2) Go off the main road, south. It will be a terrible walk, on non-paved grounds, without any certainty about what will be found.

Option 3) Reach the Southern Road (Path 2 from the previous day).

You have 2 days to choose.
