Life was bringing Adrenastaves, and Jonnington Jr. can easily destroy the Adrenastaves and heal up the lost health. The other answer provided was Vault Leftovers, which would be decked out due to lack of damage.

Air had a Light stall, and Fractix has the necessary late-game damage to defeat it. The other answer provided was Immogolems, which would be completely shut down by Wings, due to lack of Deflags.

Gravity had Catitans, and Immogolems was there to outrush it. Other answers provided were Jonnington Jr., which would basically be hard countered, and Darkness Domin. Although the Darkness Domin had comparable chances of winning, there was no other opponent that Immogolems could reliably defeat.

Time had a Mono, and Vault Leftovers absolutely shuts them down. There is perhaps no counter in the game as effective as Dimensional Shield against Mono Time. Other answers provided were Fractix and Darkness Domin. While both of these decks would arguably be favored to win, they're not nearly as safe of a bet as Dimensional Shields.

Earth had Fractal Golems, and Darkness Domin countered with Nightmare and Steal. Other answers provided were Immogolems and Vault Leftovers. Immogolems is shut down by Lightning, Basilisk Blood, and Dimensional Shield alike. Vault Leftovers is a 50/50 if Earth is bringing Dimensional Shields of their own, and even lower if Earth has a Psion thrown in as well. Darkness Domin is a fairly sharp choice because it can outrush, especially with the help of Nightmare and Vampire Dagger, and Earth cannot use Dimensional Shields to save themselves.

Second Challenge

The mark of a great General is the connections he forges.

A number of cards have been stolen from our vault. You must identify them based on their connections to other cards in the vault.

To score points in this round, correctly determine the sixteen unknown cards, which are labeled A through P. You are given clues regarding their connections to each other. All cards are unupgraded.

Example Reasoning:
To find D, we need a card with the same Cost and Card Type as Nova. Its cost is 0, and its Card Type is Spell (the other two being Creature and Permanent.) The only unupgraded spell with 0 cost is Immolation. G must be a Shield with the same Element as Immolation; thus, G is Fire Shield. K is a card with the same Cost as Fire Shield (6) and the same Attack as Phoenix (7). The only unupgraded card which satisfies that requirement is Ghost of the Past.

The five people with submissions all had correct solutions, but only three of them were participants in the event - killsdazombies unfortuantely made no submission. +22 points go to iancudorinmarian, theelkspeaks, and Solaris.

I've also realized that I mistakenly gave Solaris and killsdazombies 10 points last round, when it was supposed to be 5. The totals below are correct.

Final Challenge

The mark of a great General, above all else, is VICTORY!

The final round of War is upon us. It is up to you to defeat our enemies.

Design two decks: one for Aether and one for Darkness. Using serprex’s oetg-v simulator, the two decks will play 100 games against their two possible opponent decks, for a total of 400 games. The player with the most individual wins becomes the winner of the event. Decks must be at least 50% Fire. Each player is allowed the following number of upgrades:
