When the countdown hits zero and there is an odd number of players signed up, who will be left out (of those without a teammate)? Will it be random or will it be the last player signed up? Or if you plan to give an extension, how more time should we expect?

could you change the name of the deadeye compass into Fyndoro's Table of Finding, from OASIS(or ready player one)? It does exactly the same and seems cooler
ankh could be from pixel dungeon

Question: What does it happen if a player with... 10 hp bloodstained rose and soul catcher was attacked by 15 damage? would revive? If revived, would heal?
can you waste an action?

Healing occurs before damage. You can Pass to waste actions, but it still takes AP.

It hasn't been decided yet, but most likely 48 hours, then the last person who signed up. This would also give some time for Quantafied to end.

Prologue

Linkcat looked up from the flyer. "Are you participating?"

Submachine tried not to laugh. "Why would you want to? It's a death trap. The flyer even admits it."

"Magical artifacts, Sub. My uncle went in there once and came out with a laser gun."

"And my father went in there and came out with no legs. I think I'll pass."

Link deliberated for a moment. "I'd protect you."

"Really?"

"No."

The city of Etheria was unusually active for a Saturday, but the only things to punctuate the silence were the city's infamous lightning strikes. Etheria's lightning seemed to disregard the actual properties of lightning. Any attempts to study it resulted in rapid electrocution. Lightningrods were ineffective, as were any kind of protective wear. If a lightning bolt hit you, you were dead, whether or not you were dressed entirely in rubber. Link had lived here for all of his life, and as with many of its citizens, was apathetic about the victims of these thunderbolts. It was like being killed in a car crash. He'd never been terrified to cross the street. Why should the lightning bolts be any different?

But today, for the first time in his life, the thought perturbed him. The last time a group of people entered the Relic Maze, only four returned. The rest had all succumbed to lightning, and then each other, and then more lightning. At least, that's what he'd been told. Perhaps it was stupid to come here. Sub was right. A few little trinkets weren't worth risking his life over.

He looked in his backpack for the third time in the past ten minutes. Would these supplies last long enough? What if they ran out? Was there food inside the maze? The traumatized survivors of the previous competition certainly were in no state to tell him.

There was a sharp creaking noise. The walls receded deeper into the blackness of the maze. A strange sound, like a pin being dropped, echoed from within.

If this was going to be how he died, Link thought to himself, he might as well grab something shiny in the process.

Submachine wasn't feeling very well. It was the middle of winter, and his job was to clean the streets. Despite investing in a large quantity of warm clothing, the northern climate of the city was simply not good for a southerner like him.

The lightning worried him too. He had tried setting up a lightningrod, and not ten minutes after, a thunderbolt blew a hole in his roof. The laws of physics were just as ineffective as the laws of Etheria when it came to saving lives.

To make things worse, Link had shown an interest in the event that was being held at the Maze, one similar to the traumatic event that had happened many years ago. Link wouldn't actually go in, though. After all, even the advertisement said the risk of death was high. There was no way Link would do something so stupid. That just wasn't how Link functioned. He always thought things through, unless...

Oh.

Sub dropped his cleaning supplies and ran for the Maze.

Should I walk into a wall diagonally, do I take 10 damage from suffocation or slide against it?

eg:
If I am at A1 and there are walls at B1 and B2, and I move into B2, do I take 10 damage and be forced into B1, or do I harmlessly slide against the wall like a blind person into B1?

Why would I implement sliding physics? What if there was only a wall at B2?

You just stay at A1.

So if I walk into a wall, I take no suffocation damage, right?

It's only if there is an action that FORCES you to be in a wall, a.k.a teleporting into a wall space or something like that, am I correct?

Do you all live in bubblegum houses?

You can't suffocate unless you teleport or someone drops the Repulsor on your head.

Act I
Now that dawn_to_dusk was on the interior of the Maze, it was beginning to look a little less like the labyrinth he had envisioned. He had expected crumbling stone ruins, filled with dark tunnels, rolling boulders, and spike pits triggered by pressure plates. If not that, then perhaps a hellish landscape of fire. Or the withering remains of a jungle. Or a vast expanse of ice.

Instead, he found himself in something that resembled a mansion with the windows removed.

Despite the ornamental lighting and the smooth tiled floor, Dawn couldn't help but think that the Maze resembled a haunted mansion more than a luxurious one. Every so often, foreign sounds echoed through the corridors with frightening volume. Sharp cracks and ear piercing screeches resonated through the air. Hopefully, this maze wasn't like the place he visited last Halloween. That run down shack was responsible for his deep hatred of jump scares.

Dawn glued his right hand to the wall and ventured forth into a hallway of flickering light. Inside, he saw something he would never have expected.

He sprinted to the foreign object, ignoring the right-hand rule, and placed down his bag. It was shaped oddly, with a large platform supported by beams in the center, with some smaller, parallel platforms resting off to each side. The object was roughly as tall as his lower body. The surface of the object was rough and wooden, in sharp contrast to the tiled floor and decorated walls. The beams weren't quite perpendicular to the center platform. Instead, they supported it in an upside-down V formation, distributing its weight evenly.

He sat down on one of the smaller platforms, the strange object subtly tilting towards his weight.

Then, Dawn opened his bag, removed a sandwich, and began to eat at the conveniently placed picnic table.

If I decide to go.. for instance NE, and there's a wall NE, but not North, would I just go North or would my move by nullified?
Title: Re: Relic Sweeper 2 - by skyironsword

There are no sliding physics. Your move is nullified, because you walked face-first into a wall.

Schadel got up this morning at 88:88 AM, according to his digital clock. Then he turned off the alarm. As the shrill ringing abruptly stopped, the display jumped back to 9:01 AM.

He must have set the alarm out of habit the previous day. Today was a Saturday, but he was awake already, so he got up anyway.

He ate some leftovers from the day before, in the absence of a proper breakfast. Then he shopped at the grocery store to purchase some vegetables for the following week. Then he had a bite to eat from the nearest fast food place. Then he went home, ready to relax until it was time for dinner.

Schadel's life was one of no importance to anyone.

He had tried to get a job as a martial arts instructor once. The employer had said things like 'good work ethic' and 'well prepared' but what she had not said was 'creative' or 'brilliant'. And she was right: Schadel was neither of those things.

So here he was, using his weekend to relax. On Monday, he would have to go back to flipping burgers for minimum wage. It had always been this way, and would have continued to be this way if not for the fire alarm that woke him from his nap.

He could smell the smoke from where he was.

Schadel grabbed his wallet, his computer, and a bag to put it in and ran down the fire escape.

Within the hour, he found himself standing outside a charred mess of debris and metal, with only $23.95 and an old laptop.

Within another hour, he found himself standing near a much less charred, much less messy labyrinth.

And within three hours, he found himself hanging by one hand over a pit of spikes.

UTAlan was not prepared for gymnastics.

Monsters? Sword in its sheath, gun in his hand. Getting lost? He'd brought a compass, though it was spinning in random directions. Fire? Well, he could run pretty fast.

But UTA was not expecting to long jump across a five foot gap so that he could reach the other side of a spike-filled chasm. It wasn't until he heard a shriek that he realized that he'd landed on someone's hand.

Glancing down into the pointy abyss, he noticed a stereotypical-looking young man frantically trying to scrape his way back up the smooth wall of the pit. UTA reached downwards, using his backpack as an anchor. His foot never left Schadel's hand as UTA hoisted him up.

Schadel looked awfully happy to have his face in contact with a floor. After briefly expressing his gratitude, he hoisted his bag back to its proper position and began walking briskly away from his savior.

"Wait."

Expectant look.

"We could work together."

And so they did.

Linkcat had always loved a good adventure.

Unfortunately, in the metropolis of Etheria, there weren't many chances for adventure. There were no orc-filled caves, quarantined zombie prisons, or plane-related terrorist attacks. So when he saw the flyer for the world's second Relic Sweeper competition, he knew he had to participate.

Sub wasn't interested, of course. He always cared for himself first, even if it only cost him $3.99 and a bit of dignity. (Link didn't use protection that day.)

But to Link, an adventure wasn't really an adventure unless you had something at stake. It had been quite the adventure so far. A boulder had nearly flattened him the moment he stepped into the maze. Then he'd found an important-looking red button. When he pushed it, a minigun popped out of the wall and nearly riddled him with bullets. Sometime after that, there was a chest that tried to eat him alive. That one brought back some memories.

Right now, he was attempting to escape a creepy looking ghost that simply would not leave.

Get out... Get out of the maze... His maze...

He turned right, running through a room full of strange symbols.

This is... not your... your place...

Left, through a hallway with four doors on each side.

Trespasser...

Left again, into... a wall. A dead end.

As Link prepared to put his video game kiting skills to use, a blue laser pierced through the space where the ghost was mere moments before.

"Your uncle was in town." explained one mildly irritated Submachine.

Don't nerf Velocity :(

If someone activates a switch that is outside my Vision, but I can see the switch on the map, do I see it updated?

Can I craft two Rejuve Potions into a Rare Candy?

It's not strictly a nerf, it'll work better with Swiftness but worse with Slowness.

Tiles only update if within your Vision radius.

You can't craft with the wrong ingredients.

Dawn watched the glowing black orb nervously as it floated into the air. He drew his bow tentatively.

He'd been minding his own business in this maze when he tripped over it. Well, he wasn't actually minding his own business at the time. He was actually hiding from someone he'd almost shot. They looked like a goblin or something. Bad lighting.

The black orb stopped rising at about eye level. Every few seconds, it would pulse slightly, casting a bit of grayish light. Suddenly, it flew to his left and began to circle him.

Dawn let go of the bowstring in surprise. The arrow found itself buried in the ceiling. He briefly contemplated building a makeshift staircase to reach the buried arrow, but thought better of it. He had enough arrows.

"Now look at what you've done," Dawn complained to the sphere.

The orb thankfully remained silent as it continued to spin around his head. The spinning was making him dizzy, to be honest. He reached out to stop it, but the orb simply rose a foot and continued to circle. Maybe if he just didn't look at it too much.

"On we go."

The orb did not respond.

Thankfully.

Schadel scratched his arm idly. "What are the blue specks?"

"Points of interest." UTA gestured to one of the blue dots on his map. "There was a huge sword here, but I got chased away by a man-eating blob."

"And the brown area?"

"Huh? I think that's a coffee stain. Ignore that."

So far, the truce between UTA and Schadel had proved rather effective. UTA would deal with all the traps and monsters, while Schadel planned out their route. The team had found a room with a wooden picnic table, where they decided to take a break. UTA's family map was the current topic of discussion, serving as both a plan and a path.

The map had been brought back by his grandfather, one of the participants of the first Relic Sweeper. The different areas of the Relic Maze were categorized by their color on the map. Despite some beverage-related difficulties, the map was generally accurate enough for some level of planning.

"Maybe there's something good at the center of the maze." Schadel pointed at a blank spot, where UTA's grandfather had apparently never ventured.

"If there is, then--"

UTA was rudely interrupted by an arrow soaring two inches in front of his nose. He froze.

"Uh, sorry," came a decidedly male voice. "You looked like a goblin or something. Bad lighting."

By the time Schadel turned to look at their assailant, he was gone.

I'm a little confused about :time.

Currently, the public grid tells us it's Day 6. But we don't know if the move's we've been submitting over the past day were for Day 6 or for Day 5.

So I guess what we're asking is - does a Day consist of Moves and then Grid Update, or Grid Update and then Moves?

More specifically, how many sets of moves until the Rare Relics appear? 2 Days, sure - but is that 2 sets of Moves, or 3 (including this one)?

It would help immensely if your posts in this thread were labelled with which Day they refer to.

Thank you sky (http://elementscommunity.org/chat/skin/smilies/heart.png) We love you!

Update, then moves. It is currently Day 6.

Therefore, the Rare relics will appear on Day 8, before you move.

"The runes aren't going to kill you if you step on them."

Link hurled himself over a particularly large rune. "Couldn't hurt."

"You're just wasting time." Sub gestured impatiently from across the room.

Finally relenting, Link placed his foot on a green square. The floor immediately fell out from underneath his foot, causing his forehead to come in contact with solid tile. Wincing, Link took in the unmarked tile walls of the three-foot pit he found himself in. Only a tiny square section of the room had sunk down. One quarter of Link's small compartment was taken up by the green pressure plate his left foot was holding down. The other part had no runes at all.

He couldn't help but notice that the light of the room above was slowly getting further away.

The moment Link's foot left the green square, the platform fell away. A hollow sound echoed from the abyss below as the square plunged into the depths. Sub caught him by four fingers, having made his way over to the hole.

"Now you owe me a favor," he said, smirking.

"I wouldn't have fallen in if I never stepped on the runes."

"It wasn't even a rune." protested Sub.

"But I thought it was. That's what counts."

As they exited the room, they did not see the remainder of the flooring descending into the abyss.

Somewhere in the murky depths, a single eye opened.

Act II
Dawn was minding his own business when a bullet flew two inches past his left arm. Backing away rapidly, he glanced in the general direction of the shot. The room ahead was dimly lit, but he could make out the silhouette of a figure in the back.

The use of a gun in the first place was rather distasteful to begin with. A gun would be rather ineffective against most monsters. That was why Dawn had decided on the purchase of a bow instead. However, a gun's effectiveness on human targets is nearly unparalleled.

Another bullet sliced through the air and ricocheted off the sphere orbiting him.

Murder was illegal in Etheria, of course. But with the variety of traps and monsters within the maze, it wouldn't be too hard to make his death look like an accident.

As he rounded a corner, he felt a sharp pain in his left shoulder.

This was not how Dawn wanted to die. Wincing from the pain, he ducked behind a pillar and aimed his bow carefully. Hopefully, the maze had cameras in the walls. Posthumously suing the assailant would have to suffice as revenge.

Both people fired.

The arrow struck. The bullet did not.

Naesala and Arum have withdrawn from the game. They will both be killed, and their items and relics scattered as per the usual rules for death. They will be removed from the player list since withdrawn players cannot be revived.

Your personal grids have not yet been updated to reflect this, so plan accordingly.

(Unfortunately, this means that we are left with an excess of Mias and not enough of Lance or Lucina. The abilities of these two characters will most likely not be used to their full extent by their lone surviving user.)

I beg to differ. The Lucina who just died never used any of her abilities. Her death changes nothing, because everything will go on as it was before. (cannot speak for the Lances)

UTA shivered, despite the flowing lava in the cavern beneath him.

Something felt off.

Perhaps it was something about this room. It was barely a room in the first place. It was more like a bridge built over the planet's molten core. Or perhaps it was the maze in general. After all, safety was a thing of the past. Alternatively, it could be the floating spectre that was in the room ahead of him, though he had no way of knowing that.

UTA attributed the misgivings to discomfort and entered the room in front.

UTA shivered, probably due to the frozen lake beneath him.

Sub shot down another ghost effortlessly. Lasers worked on undead spectres, apparently.

Ever since the team had left the room with the unstable flooring, more and more ghosts had begun to appear. At this point, there was one every five or ten minutes. They hadn't really done anything to harm him yet, but touching them was probably not a good idea.

Link led with the authority of a subdued walnut, but he knew where their destination was.

As the pair continued their trek deeper into the maze, Sub couldn't help but wonder why it was getting colder.

After switches were toggled and pressure plates were pushed, a wall retracted into the floor, revealing a path into the center.

The center was simply an enormous room. While no taller than any of the others, neither Link nor Sub were able to see the opposite wall. In the middle of the room, an unorganized pile stood out from the emptiness.

The cold of the room pierced Sub's thin coat as he wandered towards the pile. This particular piercing chill felt oddly familiar.

Sub aimed the laser gun.

Dawn stared into the abyss of his backpack. Supplies were running low, and he had nothing to show except an infinitely circling black sphere.

Busy contemplating the selling price of a levitating ball, he failed to notice the dark spectre floating up behind him.

When he finally noticed the chill, the ghost was only inches away. A transparent, gray outline of a human being, with arm outstretched. The cold followed the restless spirit as he inched ever closer.

Jumping up and hooking his bag through one arm, Dawn tried his best to aim while running for his life. Ghosts didn't really have vital organs, but the chest was the easiest part to hit anyway. Ignoring the wound in his shoulder, he raised the bow to eye level and let go of the string.

Dawn watched as the arrow flew into the ghost, teleported back a few feet, changed direction, and embedded itself in the wall on his right.

Lowering his bow, he decided to run for it instead.

Schadel pencilled in some lines on his map as he and UTA made their way to the center.

The map was a little bit off. He'd drawn one of the hallways at a slight angle and now it didn't connect at the other end. As he began to erase, he was interrupted by the sound of grinding. The temperature dropped several degrees as the wall in front of him retracted into the floor.

UTA, now recovered from stumbling over the pressure plate, was pointing at something in the room ahead.

A vast room lay in front of him, with a pile of unorganized objects stacked in the center. But the thing UTA was gesturing towards was a floating silhouette above the treasure hoard.

Schadel postponed his update of the map and watched as two figures approached the pile of treasure.

He watched as two figures rose up into the air.

He watched as they flew out of sight.

And he listened as two crunching noises came from the other side.

Link felt something snap in his left leg as he slammed into the wall. A sharp pain pierced through his body when he tried to move.

Next time, he'd be sure to let Sub go first.

Sub, shocked but unharmed by the impact, stood up tentatively.

The figure above the treasure pile had simply looked at him before he lost all control over his body. If only he had fired a second earlier.

Well, there was no point complaining now. The laser gun was lying on the floor, twenty feet away.

Link was also lying on the floor, but unlike the laser gun, he was right next to Sub.

Judging from the position of his leg, Link wouldn't be able to walk for a while.

Dragging Link's unconscious body behind him, Sub exited the room the same way they had entered.

Dawn's delve into the maze had been a success. The glowing ball had only been the first of many artifacts.

Right now, he had a cursed book, a pair of bloody scissors, a plate, an hourglass, and a cube.

It was pretty easy to tell if an object was a so-called relic. They were always completely out of place. The book was in a kitchen, and the plate was in a library. The hourglass was upside down, the cube looked like it was 8-bit, and the scissors were, well, bloody.

There were a lot of monsters and traps along the way, most notably the ghosts. The ghosts were indestructible as far as he was concerned. Anything that passed through them liked to change direction and fling towards him instead. But they moved like molasses. In winter. Uphill.

As long as he didn't get cornered, he would be fine.

The others, however, weren't doing quite as well.

The laser gun would be returned if they offered their assistance in defeating the spectre.

The treasure would be split among the four of them.

Each person would take turns claiming a single piece of treasure.

In the area now affectionately referred to as the Picnic Room, a simple deal had been created.

Link was now awake and moderately healthy due to the medkit UTA had in his backpack. Sub, on the other hand, did his best to memorize Schadel's map when he wasn't looking.

Despite the difficulties, the group of four found themselves staring into the cold treasure room once more.

This time, they had a chance.

Intermission 1: Get Rich Quick
When I was twelve, I was friends with a rich girl in Etheria.

Our friendship began in the same place many childhood friendships begin: The school cafeteria. I remember it perfectly. They were serving pizza that day, and my usual table had been taken by the fat kids since it's closest to the pizza line.

I sat at what I thought was an empty table, but this was where the rich girl usually sat. It turned out that we had a lot in common: Favorite color (blue), favorite food (does ice cream count?), favorite day of the week (actually, this is Saturday for pretty much everyone).

We weren't in any of the same classes, so I never spoke to her much, but I couldn't stop thinking about her money.

My family was planning to move north after my dad lost his job, and I hated the cold. I liked it in Etheria. If I could get enough money to pay off the mortgage, then maybe we could stay.

I was twelve at the time, so it never crossed my mind that we'd still have to pay for things like electricity and water.

On the rich girl's thirteenth birthday, she had a huge party. I managed to weasel my way into getting an invite. The moment I was out of sight, I ran upstairs and looked for anything valuable. I hadn't brought a bag or anything, so I ended up stuffing a ring and a cell phone into my coat pocket.

Okay, so I didn't know how much a mortgage was at age twelve. Sue me.

But this is where it gets interesting: Right as I was about to make my escape, I caught fire.

A stray lightning bolt had decided that it was my time to die.

But I didn't. I stood there in searing pain as absolutely nothing happened. It wasn't until much later that I'd find out that the ring belonged to a fire mage.

Maybe the mayor's house also caught on fire at the same time or something, because the firefighters didn't show up until it was far too late. I'm pretty sure no one died in the ensuing house fire, but I wasn't there to see it. I was at home, hiding the ring and cell phone inside my closet. I never did work up the courage to sell them.

But the feeling of fire flickering across my skin never left me. In a few years, I would work up the courage to transfer some of the ring's magic to the cell phone.

I succeeded eventually, but not before accidentally replacing an entire street with lava and incinerating half the neighborhood.

That's why they call me Napalm.

Literally. You know, because of the fiery cell phone? Call me.

A blinding beam of light. A bullet. The pointy end of a sword. An arrow.

Projectiles of various shapes and sizes flew through the air, as did a few limp bodies.

Healing potions were swallowed, and magic scrolls were consumed.

The spectre's power waned, and the heroes' bones broke.

But in the end, the ghost hovered above the treasure hoard, while the group of four lay limply on the floor.

Submachine was taken out by being thrown against the ceiling. UTAlan fell when Submachine dropped on top of him. Linkcat passed out when UTAlan's last bullet passed through his left side. And Schadel collapsed on the ground with a severe headache from the ghost's psychic pulses.

A faint cracking sound could be heard in the distance.

The ghost floated over slowly, fully prepared to permanently remove them from existence.

And it was at that moment when a bolt of lightning ripped through the ceiling and removed the ghost from existence instead.

Intermission 2: Origins
Several centuries ago, before the creation of the world's many cities, a small village resided in peace in a plain that would later be known as Etheria.

The villagers weathered the lightning well. After all, it was how life had always been here. But one thing was different on this particular sunny day.

A single shard of magical metal fell from the stars and landed in the fields of the village.

This metallic fragment grew in size but not thickness until it comprised a small wall.

The wall split into several walls as it snaked its way across the ground.

Then a floor formed on what was previously nothing but grass and weeds. Then a ceiling.

Soon, the Relic Maze would be complete. Artifacts from other worlds would be found inside, as well as the dead bodies of former explorers.

The entire city of Etheria was built around the Maze. And yet, for centuries, no one knew what was in the center.

Act 3
Of the sixteen people who had entered the maze, only five remained.

One with an arrow through the heart, and one dead by suffocation.

One starved, and one drowned.

One impaled, one burnt, one mauled, one shot, one stabbed, one exploded, and one panicked escape.

Dawn was one of the last five survivors. Well, six, if you counted the aforementioned panicked escape.

Perhaps fate had guided him, or he was simply very lucky. Either way, he'd collected a variety of magical artifacts. Some he would sell, and some he would keep.

As he stood in the faint light of an Etherian evening, he couldn't help but wonder...

Where were all the other survivors?

The other four survivors were winding their way through the Maze in reverse.

They passed a room covered in runes, a hallway with four doors on each side, and one very oddly placed picnic table.

They avoided spikes, rolling boulders, and the corpses of other people.

The ghosts that they had gotten used to were strangely absent. Without spectres phasing through the walls, the maze was almost peaceful.

As the group said their farewells, Link glanced back towards the maze where they all risked their lives.

It seemed to recognize that all the players were dead or free.

The walls of the Relic Maze creaked and closed, maybe forever.

And maybe not.

Linkcat woke up in a rather strange manner the day after the event.

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and there was a man in a stretcher being carried to an ambulance.

As he stared at the aftermath of a car accident unfolding outside his window, he couldn't help but notice a familiar face.

There was Submachine, cleaning a cluster of shredded metal and blood that had landed on the adjoining road.

He's been gone for weeks, thought Link. I wonder how he managed to not get fired.

Submachine was minding his own business when a car decided that it no longer wanted to exist.

It finalized its decision by going out in a burst of flame and shrapnel.

A small ball of crushed steel landed a few feet in front of him. He really didn't get paid enough to clean bloody, burnt steel off the ground.

It was a miracle he was still getting paid at all, actually.

Luckily, being chased by ghosts is a valid medical emergency.

The man handed Dawn 1500 electrum and thanked him for his time.

That was the last relic that he was willing to sell. He kept the ones he could find a use for. (Well, actually, the 8-bit cube wasn't all that useful, but it looked cool enough.)

With no more sales pitches left to make, Dawn decided to take a vacation.

Next stop: Ace City, land of blackjack and questionably legal favors.

He didn't see himself taking part in any of the latter.

UTAlan wound up opening his very own store with the money he'd earned.

It was a small building near a popular intersection in the middle of the city. The location was fine.

The only problem was that he could never decide what to sell.

At first, he tried selling furniture. Then he tried clothing. Then video games, sandwiches, ice cream, and finally card games.

Right now, he's determined that movie rentals are his true calling.

Schadel returned to his old life of doing absolutely nothing interesting.

Most of his time in this world would be spent flipping burgers and counting customer purchases, despite the money from his maze delve.

His weekends remained filled with mindless TV and web surfing, and his holidays were still filled with family members. Nothing out of the ordinary.

At the moment, he seems to have found a job at a movie rental place. For once in his life, Schadel's customers did not want fries with that.

Etherian life returned to normal, at least for a little while.

Workers traveled on their daily commute, children tapped away on their phones, and criminals tried not to draw too much attention.

Teenagers drove to their minimum wage jobs, police officers ticketed some of those teenagers, and lightning bolts electrocuted some of those police officers.

The Maze sat in its usual position, acting as a dull, derelict building taking up otherwise usable space.

The last survivors of the second Relic Sweeper competition moved on with their lives.

Some would fall into obscurity, never to be heard from again.

Others would venture onwards in search of a new thrill.

One would find it in the casino-filled land of Ace City.

skyironsword, it might be more pertinent to abide by your deadlines and simply update the grid if several players forget to submit their moves. Otherwise, this game will continuously have extensions if the pattern of inactivity follows.

When only 3 players out of 12 submit moves, updating is nearly equivalent to skipping the day entirely. The game lasting longer due to inaction wastes roughly the same amount of time as an extension, but an extension is more forgiving.

Okay, so here's a general review:

-Me and CleanOnion were EXTREMELY LUCKY to have found Portal Gun by Day/Round 18-20 (I forgot the number, I'll check later). There was a 'Scale' that, when CleanOnion stepped in (he had Companion Cube), would weigh up to 2/3rds of the way through, so we had to coordinate and stick together so that when the safe was ready for opening, we would meet up on the same spot to open it. Nice little reference to Portal there too sky.

-Pixelator was by far the most deadly relic to combine with Portal Gun as a Mia teammate. Why?
~Actions go in order of Guard/Priority actions, Movement actions (basic), Defensive actions (Item Usage, Relic Usage, non-damaging character skill actions), then Attack actions (damaging character actions). The ideal situation was basically one of us uses Pixelator on a target we wish to kill one day before, and I use Fatal (gain +30 Strength) and Recover in case I don't have at least 95 EN. Then, the following day, we ensure that we're both on the same tile, CleanOnion uses Portal Gun on the target afflicted by Pixelator while I use Top Cut (major damage on the spot I'm in), which basically causes them to land onto my attack for a whopping amount of damage. I follow up with Apocalypse, which hits my tile and all tiles horizontal/vertically adjacent to me, meaning if the target tries to move in one of the directions limited by Pixelator, I still hit them with Apocalypse.

We were planning to use this combination one more time on either d2d or ji412jo, but apparently they had too many Soulstones. Blargh. So much for the 40 Relic combination/hoping that one of them had Revive so that we could give relix to Linkcat for his troubles. :P

-I still don't know how skyironsword wanted us to open the other safes. >_>

-Soulstones, while useful, were probably not a big deal compared to Rare Candies (far more beneficial given our low HP totals). Submachine's dropped Greater Energy Potion gave us the edge to create a Rare Candy for Onion to exploit, and thus not make me worry too much if he got hit with an attack.

-Arkendish is stronger and more versatile than Anarchy imo.
Notes
  • Suffocation damage was only taken once. Damage from an X tile was also only taken once.
  • The safe at E29 would have opened if all adjacent switches that were in a row/column with no walls were toggled on.

-Suffocation damage/X-tile damage were both on our team. :(
-I don't understand the E29 puzzle still, and I don't know what relics were placed in each chest. It'd be nice to get that information. ^^;

The E29 Safe

This safe had six switches adjacent to it. There was one on every adjacent tile except directly east and directly west.

To open the safe, you needed to toggle on ALL switches that met ANY of the following criteria:
In other words, you had to hit the NE, SE, S, and SW switches while leaving the other two off.

This was an undefined safe. In other words, it would give a random relic of the rarity written on the safe. Some safes, such as the one containing the Portal Gun, were defined: they contained a specific relic. All naturally generated $ tiles were undefined (they give random relics of the appropriate rarity).

Ah, me and Kuro thought that the E29 sage considered the Zoltan Shield because the hint was a reference to FTL jumping. We thought there would be a switch to open it somewhere to the far east of it.

Additionally we thought that a safe on the west side of the map somewhere in the middle contained Revive because the hint made reference to a Professor. I'll dinner the exact coordinates and what it contained later. However, we were proved incorrect.

Since the game started, whenever I sent in my actions, I wrote different subjects on my letters to sky, which looked like this:

About game balance, for future hosts I highly advise to avoid using infinite(or super-long)-range items, including Ender Pearl, Anarchy, Heavenly Fan, Orb of Kabriecy, (Precision,) etc and super-health items, like Rare Candy, Lustrous Breastplate, Interwoven Carapace, etc. In retrospect, I can only call out Anarchy as an overpowered feature, but that's only because I died early (there could be more, I only saw a small proportion of relics+items in action). As someone who played in both Relic Sweepers, I have to say that even though it received a lot of lashing, Kuro's version was better, because at least instakill-features (ghosts and Skull of Haunts) provided a way of comeback for the teams behind (even though the ghost leader must be changed to an AI next time). I think noone can argue that once Kuro and Clean collected twice the quota of deadly relics than any other teams, it was already over, and for other players to be doomed as underdogs for 20 more turns is bad game balance.

In the end, I feel like that my demise was a combination of an OP relic and bad luck. When I died, it came down to bad luck, because it was very unlucky to get stuck in an impossible wall formation like that, surrounded by the second place team, while they had stuff like Pixelator to make my escape even harder. But may I remind you that if it wasn't for Anarchy, I would be still alive, recollecting my health points on the border tile a turn later.

Instant kill isn't a comeback feature when attached to a relic such as Skull of Haunts. The player in the lead will likely obtain it and put them even further in the lead.

When given to a non-player effect like ghosts, the game degenerates into either luck or how much the host likes you.

In both cases, it is also extremely unfun to be instantly killed.

Instakill is admittedly not the good solution, and I agree that the player in lead should not get even more power. That's why it would be good if future hosts came up with good comeback options or ways to prevent one team getting significantly stronger than all others combined.

I feel like it became this way because Kuro and Onion went for the early dominance while a lot of others played more passive. If more teams had gone aggressive early on, this could have been a much different game

You can't achieve anything with early aggression without something like Anarchy.

That's to assume that no other team had anything like Anarchy. Get a few glass swords and you can easily burst down people. That was a mistake on my part
