Quest of the Frozen North Part I: Curse of the Nymphs
By Guolin

Introduction

It was 571 years after the birth of Zanzarino. There was a terrible plague that spread throughout the great land of Elements. Its victims would be left weak and have insane seizures. Every kingdom blamed another kingdom for the plague, insisting that so-and-so Kingdom wanted world domination, and spread the plague to weak its allies. No Kingdom was left untouched, though, so blame quickly turned to despair. Rangers and wizards across the world frantically tried to seek out the cure. Finally, on the 9th month of the year 572 A.Z., a team of wizards found the cause of the plague.

They discovered that Nymph magic contributed greatly to the development of the plague. The nymphs, who were not untouched by the plague, were furious. In their rage, they waged war against the Kingdoms, making things worse. Eventually, in a last-ditch effort to save their Kingdoms, hordes of adventurers, including you, decided to go to Atlantis, the birthplace of the Nymphs, and investigate further.

Map

Gameplay

As one of these adventurers, your job is to seek out the source of the plague and find a cure. You may choose one of the following classes:

Paladin

You are a warrior devoted religiously to your element. You have a melee weapon and a steed that is a strong creature of your element. You give a fighting bonus to creatures of your element.

Wizard

You are a practicer of magic that uses spells of your element to destroy your enemies. As you grow in power, you gain access to more powerful spells. You have a familiar that is a weak creature of your element designated to be your bodyguard and assistant.

Druid

You are an elemental with the blood of an Elemental creature. When needed, you can transform to a very powerful version of a creature in your element. You may also communicated with other creatures fluently.

Ranger

You are an elemental who has close bonds to the creatures of Elements. With the ability to communicated with other creatures, you can summon and use many creatures in the vicinity. You can also use a bow or dual melee weapons.
You also hail from an Elemental kingdom, like Water, Light, etc.

After I make my first In-Character post, you may make one In-Character post as well. In this In-Character post, you may describe in several paragraphs what choices you decide to make - do you want to start a conversation with another person, open a door, or fight another adventurer? You cannot control other elementals or creatures (even if you are a Ranger, you can only suggest a creature to do something), but anything else is fair game. You can also describe your surroundings up to what you can see and already know. After you have posted, Guolin will respond to that post. As soon as Guolin does, you can go ahead and post your next In-Character post.

At any time, you can post Out-of-Character as well - for example, you can comment on another player's excellent post - as long as it follows the forum's rules and guidelines.

When you initiate a fight with an opposing party, you can give commands to anything under your control, and attempt to cast a spell or swing your sword at something. Guolin will tell you whether or not your spell worked or if your sword hit the enemy. Don't try to determine the outcome of battles yourself.

Rules - READ (DO NOT JUST SKIM!) ALL OF THIS. IF YOU DO NOT, GUOLIN MAY KICK YOU FROM THE GAME FOR NOT FOLLOWING ONE OF THESE RULES.

1. Guolin is the Game Master, and has the final say on everything. He will tell you if you are trying to god-mod (AKA trying to control another player or your surroundings) and will determine battle-y stuff. Other than that, everything is left up to you. This game is a free-form RPG: you can post what you think, how you want to act, what you plan to do, etc.

2. Please use at least decent English and correct grammar and punctuation. Guolin can deal with one grammar mistake every once in a while, but if your English is terrible or you suck at punctuation, please don't bother playing. Guolin will not attempt to decipher a post like "yeh i wnt 2 go 2 tht 1 mtn ovr ther, nd kll that stoopid creeshure" - Guolin reserves the right to kick out anyone he does not feel has good enough English to experience this game as it is supposed to be experienced.

3. Use (()) for Out-of-Character. For example - ((Dude, nice post! You're going to own that Dragon, lol.))

4. Please be as active as possible. I will personally come on the forums several times a day - I expect at least one time a day from you. The quicker you respond, the deeper into the plot you will get, which also means the closer you get to "winning."

5. If you have a specific goal in mind, please PM Guolin so that he aids you in getting to the place you want to go. If you don't,  do not complain if Guolin sends you down a hole for several days for whatever reason.

6. If you have ANY questions, PLEASE ASK. It will help you experience this game to its full extent.

"Splattered paint" robe. Inky gray staff with dark purple crystal with swirling colors. One of extremely few that survived plague - dedicated to help find a cure. He mutated immune system to fight off the plague.Preferred familiar: Gackor, Minor Abomination that wraps around his back and right shoulder like a monkey.
Nordal/KorugarGravityRangerLooks pretty active.Wears: Tan cloak with hood like Darth Sidius, dull white shirt, brown pants, black boots, leather fingerless gloves. Dark blue [almost black] hair, transparent skin [orange and black cloudy energy under it if there is a light showing from other side - due to hood, you can't see it in his face]. Dual Katanas in an X, Longbow hidden in a 6 1/2 foot staff [used for extreme circumstances], Quiver w/ 40 arrows between X, has waterproof lid.Grew up isolated in Grav. Basin, learned from Grav. Basin's vast knowledge. Started using bow and arrows at age 7, then started making them. Went to gifted academy where plague hit very hard, but family was not hurt by plague. More skilled in weapons than ranger animal stuff. Loves nature, hates those that hate nature.Character sheet is very descriptive.
Isac/killsdazombiesLightPaladinFair amountLight brown hair, tain skin, 6'4". Ragged leather armor + some plate, long sword with small dagger on bottom for very close combat. Another dagger in back of belt and another in left boot.Parents dead, town burned, friends gone, nothign to lose. Kind of person that would go into a tavern and insult everyone just to start a fight. Pretty strong hate against Death/Darkness, been known to be agressive in their territory. Born into wealth, but he was trained to be soldier early on. At age 22, he left in search of treasure and found it. Excited, he ran home, only to find his town burned down by a vampire.--

Can become unnoticable.Grew up as high-ranked assassin. Had 1 brother with similar skill but less quiet. Sent on mission to Atlantis after being trained by Thorse [best Assassin] to eliminate plague. [suspects Entropy, Light, and Gravity "elemental masters"]"Assassin class". Has squad of vampires and pests. Behavior "unknown." Has 4 daggers (in addition to the ones in Description) and a set of gold throwing knives.
Sir Samuel Vimes/TerrokingEarthPaladinAs active as Multiverse allows.Brown hair, brown eyes, blue/black full-body cloak with gold trimming, chain-link gauntlets, leather boots, 6'2". Full body chain mail, gigantic broadsword (6'), diamond shield.Sir Samuel has very firm views of right and wrong, the importance of promises and telling the truth, and also possesses a very active fear of heights.Knight
Faldaunia Thistleleaf/bigbadbananaLifeRangerOnce or twice per day. He'll try his best.5'10", Bright green clothes, legging with leaves. Tanned face, flaming red hair that reflects happy, energetic personality. Walks with a skip and always seen with Kazumi, rustler companion. Longbow + short spear and thorn carapace for shield.Faldaunia grew up both parents in Forest of Life, away from civilization. She was taught the ways of the forest by her father - she was smart and learned tracking, hunting, and survival in forest. She learned healing from her mother and lived peaceful, happy life, until plague came. Both parents got infected - father became very weak and had spasms and screamed at night - could not be healed. Vowing to find a cure, Faldaunia approached King of Life for aid. Has strong empathic bond with rustler companion.Squad of horned frogs and rustlers.
Findlethel/HeliosLightWizardFairly - once per day works.Medium height, looks cheery to mask his true power. Golden cloak.Inducted into White Magic Order at young age, medium-ranked wizard adept in both offensive/defensive magic. Perfect to govern squad for official investigation of plague. Father, Elder of the Order, died when his Army was invaded by Darkness.Extremely moralistic, slightly arrogant, subtly looks down on Darkness. Will hold morals to the end.
Mog/ToimuDeathDruid5-6 times a week.Looks Indian - light black hair, brown eyes, tanned skin, no body hair. 5'8", 160 lbs, ~17 yo.Grew up in a 50 person hunting village (Vilseck). Hunting and trapping are major sources of food, clothing, tools. No villager hass seen magic - Mog was pretty normal despite being a Druid by birth. @14yo, Mog decided to be long hunter/trapper - they left village and most likely never return. They go into mountains and forests for a year and hunt/trap animals. He also carved rare bits of wood into useful items for trading, and found herbs or spices to trade as well. He traded at villages for bread and cheese. He made own cloths and bags from furs/skins, tools made from stone, bone, wood, and own hands. Spent whole life trying to keep self warm, having enough tools, and he was always hungry!
As a Druid, he could always understand animals, which helped him. He knew what to eat and where water was. He could also verbally trap animals. Shapeshifting tending to tear up his cloth, so it wasn't very useful for him.
Doesn't talk much, calls metal "magic rock". Has "Indian" ideals of food. Poor fur/animal skin as equipment - no shiny gear. 16" wooden hatchet with 2lbs sotone head, selfmade tools. Has animal bladders that can hold 2 gallons of water. Doesn't know how to read, write, or ride an animal. He was surprised when he changed into a creature. Doesn't know about plague.

It's mainly your choice - you can put it in your description. Perhaps a crossbow or some heavy-metal daggers? Your character can summon creatures and use them to your advantage (see Feral Bond, for example). Element does not matter as much to Rangers compared to the other classes.

Hograth
Height: Taller than your average dude.
Weight: Lean
Tattoo: By shifting I meant that it was constantly and slowly moving. (If your wondering how he got the tattoo, he had a magical incident involving magic)
Equitment: Carries a medium backpack and has a large staff. The staff looks similar to Gandalf the White's one, but the staff itself is an inky-gray with a purple crystal on top (I was watching Lord of the Rings at the time).
EDIT: @DM So I would only be able to use mutation on my familiar?

No weapons, small variety of spells. Speaking of which, if you decide to go druid, here's what you can choose:

Dragonfly: Large attack, great mobility, no special abilities.
Firefly: Decent attack, good mobility, abilities are related to your generation of Light.
FFQ: Large defense, decent mobility, breed abilities later on.

No, you can use it on other creatures, too. However, the effects of mutation will be lessened - I mean, the target creature won't instantly become a dragon. Instead, they might grow a dragon part, become weird-looking, and maybe have an extra ability.

Wait, are Wizards still allowed to have weapons? If not, do we have unlimited spells?
