Another thing to do would be a "tail tracking" for rainbow, so when we have to remove it, we know what to remove.

Well, you removed a piece of your tail at the end of your turn, right? So I'd say remove a piece of the tail at the end of every round(or beginning of your next turn, if you wish).

It should actually be really simple to figure out where the tail goes. There's usually only one path it could follow.
