I'm afraid that I'm not going to have a hell of a lot of time in the next week (work sprang up).  I'll try to participate, but if I'm too quiet, feel free to modkill me.

First real in-character post coming tomorrow.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

OOC: going to not have internet for a few weeks, hope this will allow me the time to get back and not have Singed sitting around drooling like an idiot

After several days of scouting, Singed finds the nearby village. "Perfect...," Singed thinks to himself, "With Maedhros's primary fortress to the north, merchants and entertainers are likely to come north, and by this village, to sell their wares and to entertain the soldiers." Without waiting he sets up a camp roughly 2 hours marching distance south-west of the village. In his calculating mind, it made a perfect spot for a sneak attack, or in this case a quick retrieval of a map, and maybe a hostage or pack animal if luck was on his side. Within a single week multiple caravans came through, though he skipped these because they were too large with multiple rings of look outs to easily penetrate and retrieve a map. A week later, however, his luck turned for the better. "Now I'm glad i decided to skip that larger caravan 2 days ago, this group is too lax for their own safety," he said to himself. So he made himself comfortable for the long wait ahead, he decided he would sneak in 3 hours before dawn. The decision was a sound one, just 2 and a half hours before dawn, he was on his way to the mountains to the north to study the map in more detail and with less fear of discovery. After keeping his distance from the village and heading into the mountains, he finds a small cave and prepares it with what resources are ready at hand. While looking for wood to make a crude bow and some arrows, he comes across a she-wolf and her pup. At first Singed thought nothing of the blood and the fact that the she-wolf was laying on the ground. Then he realized that she had an arrow of elvish make in her side and that it was her own blood. "Horrible luck you have had, she-wolf," he murmurs as he approaches. The she-wolf is too weak to do more than bare her teeth, though the pup started, to attempt, to snarl threatenning and then latched itself to Singed's thick leather boots. "Well pup," he says, "Are you crazy or brave?" The pup responds with a muffled snarl, "Oh well," he responds, then takes a length of rope from his pack and proceeds to tie the squirming pup to a tree. "Now" he says to the she-wolf, "Lets see what kind of damage that pin did." After looking around the wound, and removing the arrow, he pulls out his sword, "Gutted like a pig you are, so I might as well put you out of you're misery," so he slashes the she-wolfs throat and takes her hide, "No point in wasting a good hide while I'm in these mountains." He also takes some of the sinew to reinforce and string his bow with. So now he goes back to the pup, and now he realizes the pups coat is coal black, "Well don't you have a pretty coat?" he asks the pup as he pulls out a strip of meat, "Now, do you want to go or stay with me? I could use a scout, and you act braver and look smarter than any of the other wolves I've seen." So Singed gives the meat to the pup and walks off to find the rest of the components for the bow he is making. He later returns to the cave he is sheltering in to find the pup sleeping inside. "So, you're smarter than I originally thought. So if you're sticking with me, what shall I call you...?" he says to the sleeping pup, which woke with a start at the sound of his voice. "How about Shadow? Seeing as that coat of your's seems to allow you to dissappear into dark places with ease," he tells the pup. So he gathers the pieces to his new bow and starts putting them together, randomly calling Shadow over to his side. Every time he responded, for he was indeed male, he would give him a bite of meat. So for the next few weeks Singed finished his bow, practiced with it, and trained Shadow as best he could.

"Doctor, doctor! The situation does not look good! Patient is in a critical state! Vital signs are weakening as we speak!"

It may be time to inject some new life into this RPG, which I will not see die.

Dagor Aglareb
Hithlum

"Friends, I believe the time has descended upon us to launch a direct counter-offensive against Angband itself and the Dark Lord it shelters. For too long have we waited, content to settle in our domains and accepting of Morgoth's constant harassments, but no longer. Henceforth, it is we whom will be on the offensive and with the initiative, will take his war to his vile fortress. With the combined might of my House, and that of Feanor to the East, and the assistance of the Sindar, we shall fight a glorious battle and be victorious."

Thus spoke Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor.

All those in attendance gave a rousing round of applause.

The Dagor Aglareb, the Glorious Battle in which the Free Peoples of Beleriand would launch their first direct offensive against Angband itself, had begun.

The thief, Saberan, had proved as useful as Silvertongue had hoped. At day break, the two were up, packed and on their way. The rumors had turned out to be true, there was in fact a large host traveling across their lands. Silvertongue had heard these people appeared to be elves, but that they could walk upon the water like the earth itself. Years as a bard had taught Silvertongue to take everything with a pinch of salt, but with the new information garnered by Saberan, there was almost no doubt that the host did in fact exist. More would be discovered by observing them, and it was doubtless that they would have many foreign treasures for Saberan to lay his hands on. Traveling at dawn, and with only two men, the pair easily caught up to the host around afternoon tea. Silvertongue played three soft notes on his fiddle and Culas was off, leaping onto a tree and climbing up it, flying through the branches until he was following alongside the host.
"We'll follow from afar, and if they make a severe change in direction, Culas will tell us," Silvertongue said in a hushed tone, "A simple invisibility spell will keep us from being spotted by scouts hopefully."

With much unease, Lehren, Beruin father decided to join up with the elves, as this battle could prove important for the dwarves. In the same event, he did not wish to risk the safety in his tribe, and thus not going public with this turn of events. Lehren gathered a party of the 30 finest warriors he could assemble, amongst them, Beruin stood tall and proud. The 30 followed Lehren through wind and weather. Until they while marching at night, can hear nothing. Its too quiet.
They stand fast, the warriors take a little rest, while Beruin goes to discuss with his father about the upcoming events.
~~
Not more than one hour later, they are approached by an elf, all 30 assume fighting stance, the elf, seemingly dazed by the aggressiveness unlike anything he has seen in something not orcish, in fact, unlike anything he have ever laid eyes on!

The elf stopped for a split second, frightened, schocked. A creature he had only heard about in his studies. The elf straightened his back as his elven arrogance took place in his mind again. He resumed the friendly posture, and approached the dwarves, still standing terrifying as ever, a sight like this would frighten the bravest of warriors, not because they are scary, but because one could see their longing for battle in their eyes!

The elf spoke first; "Greetings, mighty warriors, thou must be the dwarves. I, am Ethrandil, half Vanya, I come in peace."

Lehren ordered the dwarves to lower their weapons, they didnt like it, but they followed orders.
Beruin now saw it, since his vision was greater than that of a normal dwarf, he first glimpsed something shiny, it was elf-armor shining ounder a cloak. Then he noticed more elf hidden in the shadows of the trees, he did a quick educated guess, 50elves. They wouldnt have a chance, if the rumours about elves and their archering skills are true.

Again the elf spoke: "If you will just follow me, my master would like a few words with you, regarding an upcoming event."

'The High King of the Noldor, Fingolfin, has summoned all of the Noldor in Beleriand to march against the Dark Lord in a show of united strength, and he invites all Free Peoples enemies of Morgoth to ally with him in this endeavour. You seem to be a group of stalwart warriors and could certainly be of assistance to my lord, Finrod Felagund of Nargothrond. We march to Tol Sirion to join with Fingolfin and thenceforth, to assault Angband. Will you join us, sons of Aule?'

Ethrandil paused and waited for their answer.

Some of the dwarven warriors moved with unease, wanting to protest.
Beruin stood right next to his father, he raised one arm, and the dwarven warriors fell silent. It was all silent as Warmaster Lehren spoke; "I have come to battle, what seems to be a shared enemy. But before we talk war, let me introduce myself." And the round dwarf spoke with great authority, and held everyone's attention as he did.
"My name is Lehren, I'm the warmaster of the dwarves that lives beyond Nogrod, aside from the other dwarves. And I am their leader in battle. I have chosen to follow your master, Finrod Felagund whoever he might be.

As these words were spoken, Beruin and Ethrandil nodded friendly to eachother and smiled. Little did they know what was about to take place...

I'm really sorry, but my workload is going to prevent me from meaningfully participating in this event.

Y'all have fun without me. :(

Well, if you get time, your character will still be there. In any event, hopefully we will host 3 more of these when time comes to it.

I believe everyone understands your situation, Essence; your character won't die, however; he will simply be suspended in space and time until you return, which hopefully will be soon enough to be able to post.

However, failing that, you can always participate in the sequel taking place in the Second Age ;)
