Sanctus continued on down the hallway, until he came to a partially open door. Quickly shifting to the ethereal, Sanctus slid through the opening in the door silently, his invisibility taking care of their sense of sight while padded feet blocked out the likelihood of him being heard. Creeping into the room, Sanctus found three imps sitting at a table. On the table were two boxes, one containing a bow, and one containing a sword of some sort. Both were within glowing boxes of some sort, however he wasn't concerned with it's contents. Neither of the weapons gave off any energy, though the boxes themselves were interesting. They seemed to be made with an extremely powerful dampening spell built into them. From what he knew of divination magic, he was fairly certain that even a Seer could not find them in her visions. He was about to attack, when one of the imps spoke up. All three were staring at what appeared to be a large mirror.
"Silly girl, fell for our trick, just like that Gargoyle." The imps cackled, staring at the mirror.
Well, I'm certainly not a cat, thought Sanctus, letting his curiosity get the better of him. He silently padded up to the table, inspecting the mirror. It was no mirror, but a magical window. He had only seen one before. This one seemed keyed to the winged woman. As he watched, she picked up a bow, using her magic to reform it.
"Our master did well, she can't even tell the difference. It's perfectly forged. She'll never know it's sapping her energy, until it's too late." The imp said, taunting the girl through the strange window.
"We'll keep there real weapons here, in the Void Containers, until she's weak enough to use against her lover." Said the third imp, bringing up a roar of laughter from his brothers.
"Are you sure they're the real ones?" Asked one of the imps in a hushed voice, clearly afraid to offend.
"Yes, I saw the Master take the weapons from their bodies myself. I went with him when he placed them in the Void Container's, then he handed them to me, and they haven't been out of my sight since."
Sanctus had heard everything he needed to. He slid three needles from their homes on his wrist, then dipped them into two of the stopped poison tubes built into the containers on the inside of his calves. This mixture of poison would cause the victim to instantly fall unconcious, and cause memory loss, the imps would lose about five minutes of memory. He thrust the needles into the necks of two of the imps, becoming corporeal again seconds before impact so the needles could puncture their skin, leaving them sticking from the imp's necks as he used one hand and his wings to propel himself over the table, knocking the third imp to the ground.
"Nighty night," he said, stabbing the vile creature beneath him in the chest. It struggled for a few seconds, then went limp. He tugged the needles free one by one, sliding them into his case of needles to be cleaned, then grabbed the two boxes. Their magic was remarkable in that not only did they contain the most powerful Energy Dampening spell he had ever seen, but they also responded to touch, while holding it, they shrunk, along with their contents, to the size of sugar cubes. He laughed in spite of himself, putting the two cubes in a zippered pouch on the inside of a sleeve.
I think I'll keep these for myself. You never know when you'll need leverage. The false weapons seemed to function as well as their originals anyway, and his distaste for the Necromancer was such that he chose not to trust the others with him. It didn't matter to him what happened to them. He went invisible again, then stepped into the ethereal, leaping up onto the floor above. He was in a small room, possibly an empty closet, but he had enough room to squeeze himself in, then rematerialized. Checking that his stolen cargo was still safely hidden away, and that the dampening spell continued to hide them from all attempts at detection, he exited the door, standing in another hallway. He went invisible once more, treading silently down the hall.
Hallways, always hallways. However, against the wall to his right, there was a large gate, and the sounds of a battle. He stepped out through the gate in time to watch the winged woman attack a strange creature. Remaining invisible, and travelling to the ethereal for safe measure, Sanctus watched in silence, ready to step in if he saw an opening to kill the creature. He let his mind go blank, reflecting only on the actions he saw, and expected, his training allowing him to block tedious thoughts from his mind, such as trivial events in the recent past.
