ESSENCE THE WISE! 656 - After being one of the last to arrive, and one of the worst in battle, Essence redeemed himself by not only fixing, but improving, the cities armaments. Those fools don't know what's coming.
MINIWALLY THE BRAVE! 588 - Also being on of the last to arrive, Miniwally's fighting skills save many lives of the kingdom, and he was only too happy to fix humongous portions of the wall.
And so, Sir Essence the Wise and Sir Miniwaly the Brave march in to see the dying king. And there he is, coughing upon his throne, looking sickly and old. "I..." he wheezed before coughing up more blood, "I am dying."
"Alas my king," said Essence, "there must be a cure. Surely your great wizards mi--"
The king raised his frail hand to silence him. "There is none." He paused before starting again. "I need an heir."
"I will serve where you need me," said Miniwally, bowing.
The king smiled, remembering how Essence's head saved him more than his sword. Essence would make a peacetime leader, and a fine one at that, but the king had no idea when the horrors would strike. Miniwally, however, was a wartime ruler, His skills in combat were almost unparalleled, while he possessed the skills to rule during peace. The king made his decision.
"No Miniwally. The spot is not for me to choose"
"We could both do it!" Mini said, but Essence shook his head. "Alas, sir Miniwally, a single fight would cause civil war."
"I... am dying" repeated the king, "and for all my youth I only wanted to do one thing. I only wish I could see it done before I die"
"Anything milord" said Essence, "we are at your service"
"Find me the holy grail."
A grave silence fell over the hall. Essence looked to Miniwally, the two friends shook hands, and went their separate ways. Fighting to save the life of the king, whether that king be their leader, or themselves.
