Lore by CleanOnion -Linkcat stumbled into the door to Dr Mark Brunsdon's office. Somehow, despite his continually increasing variety of disabilities, he had managed to make his way across town, perhaps owing to dissimulation of plot. Nonetheless, he was on time for his appointment.
The trip had been exhausting, and Linkcat rested his head against Dr Brunsdon's door. For a moment he closed his eyes, and wished the pain would simply take him away. When he opened them at last, he noticed he had left a little blood on the name tag on the door.
"Treatment is going faster than I anticipated." Dr Brunsdon announced. "In fact, despite the obvious continual feuding between the different personalities in your head, it's a wonder that your overall personality has actually improved. You've become a completely incoherent quadriplegic whose only friend is his doctor. That's certainly much less of a burden than you were before." He placed down on his desk the picture frame he had been looking at. Linkcat snuck a glance at it on his way to the leather chair. It showed Dr Brunsdon, a woman - presumably his wife - and a small child. It looked recent.
"When I took the treatment it took several weeks for me to see any difference." the doctor continued, wringing his hands together. Linkcat noticed he wasn't wearing a ring. "My personalities were clearly a lot less competitive that yours, perhaps."
"Maybe you had an even number of personalities." Linkcat said, distracted. Who was the woman in the photograph, then?
The doctor shook his head. "Anyway, you should be off. You're fine. Pop another pill and see me next time."
On his way out, Linkcat was careful to clean his blood off of the door's name tag. As he wiped the annoying spot of redness off the "J", his thoughts returned to the mysterious woman. Perhaps he was overthinking.
