@korugar: Forgot to reply to you before. 'scent' is not a skill, therefore you cannot make a skill check with it. 'scent' is an ability, it's always active and provides a bonus to search checks based off smell, and survival checks made to track.

I guess the reason I say it like that is that I'm just specifying what my character is searching for(and I've never done anything like this before, so I'm sure that contributes ). So would the correct way be to simply do a search check?

Go on wikipedia. Find an interesting weapon. Find the name for said weapon in another language. Have your character use said weapon and have him have the weapon's name in another language as your character's name. It's what I did.

I was just saying that your character description is so bland, that there's about a million people you could look like

I could have called you 'Joe' or 'John' just as well. There's probably a million Johns with black hair who are average height.
