Sirenes stops and turns to face Xanriel, looking up into his eyes. "You can't beat yourself over those things forever. It's enough that you feel sorry for it. You've suffered enough and now you deserve to be happy" Reaching up, she touches his cheek and gives a small reassuring smile "Okay? There may be a few angry spirits there, but I'm sure we can deal with that when it happens"

Xanriel nods solemnly, managing to almost feel the smile that spreads over his lips as he takes Sirenes's hand and kisses it, linking his fingers with hers again and entering the dinning hall, where they were met by Incarnate and his court, preparing to eat their dinner before discussing battle plans. As the two entered, the room fell silent, and an almost bashful Xanriel quickly made his way to a seat, far from the creatures of Darkness.
"The sooner we're out of here, the more comfortable I'll feel," he mutters to Sirenes, "We really need to go somewhere a bit more... Light friendly one of these days."

OOC: I have no intention to make Zanthos the love interest of MAx. It's just a nice dynamic to play with, helpful and a little bit hostile.

Sirenes put a little pep in her step to keep up with Xanriel. The sudden silence made her feel feel bashful for him. Why, she was unsure. Being looked at by crowds was something she can become used to while traveling with the troupe.  Xanriel pulls our her seat for her and she sits and he moves her a bit closer then take the seat beside her. "Hopefully we'll be getting out of here sometime soon. We've finished what we came here for, I think." She glances around, then returns her attention to him "I still want to see the Forest of Life. I bet the flowers are... amazing. I can only imagine, but I'm sure it's even better than anything I can dream up."

Xanriel smiles, giving Sirenes a quick peck on the cheek. "They truly are, I used to live there for quite some time as an apothecary before I joined the group, and before that I lived in the Earthen Mountains with a friend. There is only one kind of flower I know of that is more beautiful, it's a flower that grows in the borderlands between the Aetherland and the Forests of Life. When we're done in the Dead Marshes, we should cut up through the Aetherland and make our way to the Forests of Life."

Mordekai:

Izekiel! How did he know his name? Mordekai clutched his retracted Pyrospear tightly, his muscles tensed. This is eerie. Nobody knows about my grandfather but me and my father! A few of the elders, too, but they died in battle... nobody knows. Nobody knows his name. Nobody knows why he disappeared all those years ago. Nobody knows about anything he did...

except this stranger...

"I'm sorry, repeat the question?" said Mordekai with a quavering voice.

"How old are you? And why are you so troubled?" Sekhor replied back.

"I'm pretty young for a Fire Eater. Only eighty-four. But wait-

how did you know who my grandfather was?"

Heimdall:

Heimdall arose from his cot blearily. His mind buzzed and wandered around like an irritated man on questionable substances. Concentrate. Heimdall focused on the image of the crystal shard in his head with his mind's eye; soon, his mind was as sharp as it used to be. He looked around him. They were back at his room in the citadel. Zanthos sat in a chair, looking out of the window and twirling a leaf between his thumb and forefinger, while MaX slept on a bed opposite from Heimdall's. Heimdall got up; his muscles and body were surprisingly strong after that ordeal.

"Oh, you're up," said Zanthos. "How do you feel?"

"Good, actually," said Heimdall, stretching his arm experimentally.

Zanthos smiled. "You can thank my healing salves for that."

"How did I do?" said Heimdall.

"Never seen anything like it," said Zanthos. "A huge crackle, nearly blew my eardrums right off. A bright white and blue light. The boulder EXPLODED- literally. The bolt went right to its core and it just shattered into dust. Knocked both you and MaX out good."

Heimdall shook his head. This won't do. I can't afford to get knocked out every time I cast a spell. "Well, I'll have to work on it. Thanks a lot."

Zanthos smiled again, flicking the leaf out the window. "Don't mention it."

OOC: Okay, let's get out of here. Bloodshadow, you can gather everyone up or something and we'll head off.

OOC: I've got Sirenes, Xanriel and Incarnate and all them in the dining hall, thought that'd be a good scene for a send off.

InC:

Sekhor:

Sekhor was standing in a flash, snarling as he stalked away. This was ridiculous. A descendant of Izekiel, here? He had had quite enough of old ghosts.
"I want you out of this camp tomorrow. I'll escort you to your destination like I promised, but you are not welcome here after tonight." How could this be the descendant of Izekiel? And what's worse, he appears to have inherited his grandfather's... unique gift. Were the Masters coming back? When he calmed a bit, he'd have to have a serious talk with this Mordekai, but until then, he needed to take a break. He needed to fight. Drawing his twin blades, Sekhor approached a small grouping of Cacti and began his assault on his unsuspecting foes.

Mordekai:

He sat, staring at the fire before him, as Sekhor got up. God, I'm confused. First, he acts all strange once I show him my spell. And then, he... knows my grandfather? And then, when I mention it, he blows up on me? Mordekai did not want to move; his armor was heavy and the fire was warm. But he did so anyways, getting up and walking a little way away from the caravan. He stood, the gigantic desert moon looming high in the abyssal sky. The dunes stretched out for miles. Mordekai stood for what seemed like all eternity, investigating every aspect of everything around him.

He closed his eyes. Force Vision. He had learned this specialized skill later on. Although the denizens of Gravity could control and view the powers of the force of gravity, specially trained warriors like Mordekai could expand this and control other forces, too. Now, he was using Force Vision in order to detect the forces around him. Not for any particular reason; he sometimes liked using Force Vision just to get a different view of things. And he needed a different view right now.

Around him, he saw a blanket of tinted orange. The force of Gravity. Always present, always constant. Red pinpoints sprung up here and there. The force of heat. Heat means bodies. Bodies mean living things. He also sensed a strange yellow blanket of color flowing around the area. Strange... the force of Time? There were other assorted colors indicating weak magnetism and electricity, but nothing outstanding.

And that was all. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Mordekai sighed, preparing to exit Force Vision, when he noted something peculiar. Air force. Air force by itself was nothing out of the ordinary; the air constantly shifted. But far in the distance was a perfect hemisphere of blue air force off the surface of the dunes. How can this phenomena be possible?

Don't trouble yourself. Mordekai reopened his eyes and shut off Force Vision, still looking at the spot where the hemisphere was. He squinted... and was quite surprised. The girl Sekhor called Mariah, sleeping. Interesting...

Speaking of which... Mordekai walked back to the caravan, tired in both mind and body. "Got a bed?" he asked one of the Anubi.

The Anubi showed him to a canvas tent with a roll of papyrus on the floor and a cotton pillow. Mordekai thanked the Anubis and laid on the papyrus without taking off his armor.

Satisfied with his fauna massacre, Sekhor cleaned his blades on the outside of his pants then drove them home their scabbard. Arriving at the fire, Sekhor is directed by Keith to find Mordekai. He was going to deal with this now. Pulling back the canvas flap, Sekhor steps into the Yurt.

"Alright Mordekai. Get up, we need to talk about Izekiel, about your grandfather, and my father's friend."

mAx was feeling giddy pretending to sleep as he heard Zanthos retell the events of the experiment.

I knew I was going to weaken while absorbing Heimdall's spell damage. What was surprising was that I knew exactly how long the shield would last. I felt it. I never realized that a spell could be... calibrated. It seems that the absorptive capacity of the shield is directly related to the :entropy quanta I can muster. Now if I can invoke enough entropic energy, I can keep maintaining the shield without falling unconscious. Of course, the destroy spell has worked perfectly as always. Destruction has been the easiest lesson in Chaos 101. But, it remains to be the hardest skill to master and control.

Now we're off to a new adventure. I need an entropic staff to collect and focus the necessary :entropy for my spells.

MaX kept his eyes closed and dozed off a few moments more to enjoy the calm before the storm.

Okay, Bloodshadow. First thing you do when you get here is to find some way to get us all together and moving, k?

Mordekai:

Mordekai closes his eyes and sighs. Before he could start drifting off to sleep, though, Sekhor came in.

"Alright Mordekai. Get up, we need to talk about Izekiel, about your grandfather, and my father's friend."

Mordekai stood up, instantly alert. "Yes. We do. But I'm asking the first question. How did your father know him?"

Sorry guys, a bit busy yesterday. Now I'll get us all together and move on to the Morte arc.

The door to the chamber opened, and a very short vampire servant in a crimson cloak stepped in. "Get up, foreigners," he said. "Lord Incarnate wishes to see you immediately. Come to the dining hall; you know where that is."

"Orthon?" Heimdall frowned. "What's the matter? Why does Incarnate want to see us?"

"You are here because you wish to participate in our war against Morte," Orthon said. "Do not disappoint us." He turned away and left.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.
