OOC: OOF, maybe I read that wrong. To me it sounded like he wanted to be alone, but didn't want to tell us to leave. Xanriel wouldn't have dragged Sirenes off, especially if Heimdall wanted the company, I'll wait and see what Icy says before I respond to that part, and if he wanted company then of course we'll stick around :P

InC:

Sekhor:

Though his story seemed suspicious, Sekhor did not get the chance to answer, he heard a familiar call come from above. Sighing, he looked up to see Mariah again.
"Ah hell, not her again," Sekhor drew his sword back from the graviton warrior's throat and shifting into a Soaring Hawk stance, ready to strike if she attacked. "I don't trust this woman, if you want to come to the caravan, then we'll have to check with the chieftain, but we shouldn't stay here, Mariah can be a bit... abrasive, and given how our last meeting ended, she might not be so happy to see me." Throwing his hand up toward Mariah, Sekhor trapped her in a time bubble, giving the warrior more time to make his decision. "So, are you coming or staying? She'll make it here in about twenty minutes at that speed, but i'd rather get out of here long before she figures out what's happened."

OOC: Sekhor and Mariah were friends before he was chosen as his fathers replacement, but when he became the Master of Time, they stopped being friends and became allies, and she began treating him as an associate, instead of as a friend, and then when he abandoned them all and refused to die for their cause, she was the only one who came and tried to stop him, and he did the same trick then, trapped her in a time bubble and threw himself in one too, running away before she could even blink. Because of him she was almost too late for the final battle, and the battle was almost lost. So Sekhor is reasonably worried that Alex, who he thinks is Mariah, may want to get some payback.

Zanthos woke up surprisingly well rested. Seeing the sun was up, he walked to the window from his room and jumped out as a pigeon on a morning flight. Hovering under the greyish light sifting through the smoky clouds, he spotted the mutant elf tagging behind Heimdall.

And, behold. Creeping not too far back... a living profanity... a mutant spectre.

I knew it.

Mordekai glanced around, confused. He heard a voice behind him. "Hey! Are you okay down there?" It was faint and far away; he dared not turn his head to look, for the sword of the Anubis was still held high.

Then, the Anubis started talking about someone named Mariah. What? What is going on here? All i want is to spend the night, dammit!

"Okay," said Mordekai. He depressed a button on the Pyrospear and it kicked backwards, retracting clunkily into a small, portable dagger. "Lead the way." He followed the Anubis warily, fingering his retracted Pyrospear, ready to fight at the first sign of trouble from the Anubis or the mysterious voice behind him.

Heimdall:

Sirenes was... hesitant. I think she needs to talk to me... Later. I have to see Veneficus first. Heimdall enters the barracks, a stark, black building. It was quite wide and was not as beautiful as the citadel, but it did have a frugal elegance to it. MaX fluttered behind him as he shouldered his way into the crowded building, swarming with vampires moving here and there.

"Where could he be?" Heimdall asked MaX.

"Here, there, or anywhere at all," said MaX in his strange way. When Heimdall paused, MaX continued, "Erm... but probably upstairs or something."

"Good idea," replied Heimdall, taking to the stairs. It was much less crowded on the upper floor of the barracks; it probably contained the generals and those who had positions. Veneficus said he was the leader of the mages. He should know something about what I did.

Before long, Heimdall met a very short vampire in a crimson cloak. He pulled out a strange flick-knife. "Halt," said the vampire. "What are you foreigners doing in the Barracks?"
"I need to see Veneficus," said Heimdall slowly.
"He's occupied."
"It is urgent."
"Who ARE you?" said the vampire questioningly.
"An acquaintance. Go to him and tell him that it's Heimdall."

The vampire left, muttering, and opened a door. When he left, Veneficus accompanied him. He flashed Heimdall his strange smile. "Why, hello, Heimdall. Why are you here to see me on such short notice?"
"Well... I was thinking... why don't we go inside first."
"Sure," said Veneficus. "You may dismiss yourself, Orthon."

The short vampire left as Heimdall and Veneficus entered his room. It was quite large. On every wall was a bookshelf with spellbooks crammed onto the shelves. In the middle was a large table cluttered with papers, bottles, and other curios; 3 large chairs were placed around the table. One of them was occupied.

"I remember you!" said Heimdall. "You're Illustrus!"
The Immortal smiled warmly. "Yes, we met back in the Aetherlands."
"Oh, you know Illustrus?" said Veneficus.
"We've met for a little while. Thank you once again for the room," said Heimdall, taking a seat.
"The pleasure was mine," said Illustrus.
"So..." said Heimdall. "What brings you here to the Kingdom of Darkness?"
"Research as always," said Illustrus, chuckling. "I'm researching the combination of Quintessence and Liquid Shadow. Veneficus here is my friend, and he provided me with some samples."
"Some?" said Veneficus, laughing. "You used up two shop's worth for your silly experiments!"
Illustrus laughed. "Closer to three. Anyways... what brings YOU here to us, Ulitharid?"
"Well..." Heimdall began. "Veneficus, remember what happened... at the end of our battle?"
Veneficus's face darkened. "Yes... and I was meaning to inquire about that myself."
"Except I don't know how I did it," said Heimdall exasperatedly. "I thought you might know."
Veneficus paused. "No, I don't have the slightest idea... but Illustrus might."
Illustrus smiled. "I like a good challenge."

OOC: To be continued. I don't care if you drag Sirenes away, Purity. Just make sure that we should probably talk in the near future ;)

@Purity: I think maybe we should discuss on what exactly happened in the day when the Masters sacrificed themselves to bind the Void. In Jonathan's flashback, I wrote that in the last second, Sekhor disconnected himself from the spell and saved himself; the Void sensed an opening, and struck out, disconnecting Mephisto (Death) and the Master of Aether from the spell. That's the reason why Mephisto was half-alive, and why the Master of Aether died but his mind survived and resided in the Aether until he met Heimdall.

Maybe Sekhor participated in the final battle after all? But like I described, he disconnected himself from the life-sacrificing spell in the last minute. Are you OK with this?

OK, gonna do something with Faustus now. Probably him and the Grey Nymph trying to raid a Pharaoh's pyramid to find some secret to restoring himself to life.

BTW, I've decided to copy Shaman King completely and call the Grey Nymph "Eliza", since Eliza is the lover of Faust XIII in Shaman King.
 :P :P :P

Editing in progress.

The blistering heat in the Desert of Time was extremely uncomfortable. Especially to a being like Faustus, whose body was no longer capable of perspiration. At least, technically, his body was undead; it's not like he could die in a heatstroke, because he was physically incapable of such a feat. Even under the merciless sun, Faustus looked deathly pale and skeletally thin.

However, Eliza, Faustus's lover who was recently resurrected from the dead and turned into a Grey Nymph, was not doing so well. She was panting slightly, the pale skin of her forehead glistening with sweat. "Are you sure we're going the right way, sweetheart?" Eliza asked tiredly.

"Patience, my dear," Faustus reassured her. "We'll be there in a moment."

After about half an hour of walking in the sand, Faustus and Eliza began to see the faint outline of a pyramid, shimmering in the heated air. "Seems like we're there," Faustus said.

"Right. And you think that in that pyramid was an elixir that will restore you back to life," said Eliza. "If you ask me, I would still look in the Forest of Life first."

"Well, dear, do you think that the Forest of Life would welcome creatures of Death like us?"

But before Eliza could answer, the sand beneath them began to shake.

OK, don't have much time today. I'll leave it like this for now.

MaX hesitated outside the threshold of the barracks. Heimdall, I'm just gonna stay here and.... um, guard the entrance for you. I'm not comfortable with all these juicy elites milling about, I might do something... regrettable.

Right there and then, a greyish bird swooped down on the butterfly and came short of snapping it's beak at the insect. "You sneaky pest!", screeched Zanthos.

"Wait! Stop!! What the..." MAX blew himself up a bit to the bird's size and the chase started.

MAx spotted an empty rampart and went full speed. Transforming back into an elf, he held his hands up and out in a gesture of surrender. "What's wrong with you?! Hold on. Let's talk about this, we're NOT really animals you know."

The bird landed as the tall elf and stomped accusingly right into maX's face. "You said you were NOT among the fallen. Then WHAT is that abomination doing following you around the city!!"

"Oh Dexter!" MaX mashed his face with both his hands and massaged his temples. "That can be explained... just stop being so hostile. You, my dear sir, by far, are the most war-freakiest Life Elf I have ever met!" waving his hand in front of the angry Zanthos.

"Don't call me a freak, Freak!", he placed his index finger on the stubby one's chest to push him away like dirty laundry.

Max was forced to step back a few paces. "Okay, okay... can we just start over? Please."

OOC: Sorrry, I never actually read your post on that. I just don't see Sekhor even arriving. He's not a coward, but he won't fight someone else's battles. Fleeing the scene after he arrived just isn't his style.

InC:

Sekhor:

A swirling bubble of time slid around the two as, again, he fled from Mariah, dashing across the desert with the Graviton Warrior in tow. As they crossed over yet another sand dune, almost at the edge of the camp, Sekhor stopped, turned toward the warrior.
"One thing first before I introduce you to the chieftan and let you plead your case. What is your name soldier?" Sekhor had his hands rested firmly on the handles of his blades, and moved his foot back onto higher ground, bracing his stance without looking aggressive. As he waited for an answer he felt his control of the time bubble flowing around Mariah falter, then break. She should have been trapped long enough that they had made their escape, but Mariah had always had a knack for finding him.

Xanriel:

Xanriel smiles warmly to Sirenes, he felt bad for pulling her away, but he truly felt like Heimdall wanted privacy.
"Alright then, let's find someplace with some light shall we? Maybe in the citadel?" He grinned, pecking his ward on the cheek and dragged her off yet again, taking to the skies as they flew toward the castle, "I'm really sorry about dragging you off like that," he says, a smile on his lips but a frown in his eyes.

Well, what if Zanzarino himself tells Sekhor to go? Then he'd have no choice but to go. If he wasn't even there during the binding, then the spell will not be initiated at all.

I'm not trying to be a control freak here, I'm just trying to collaborate.

Also, Faustus and Eliza are not going to run into Sekhor, Mordekai and Alex until later when I want them to.

The ground shook, and suddenly the dunes of sand burst open. Swarms upon swarms of beetles with golden carapace crawled out, their teeth making clattering sounds and ready to devour everything in their path.

"Damn, Scarabs," Faustus silently cursed. "Get back," he gestured toward Eliza. But it was already too late; a large golden Scarab launched itself away from the swarm and flew toward Eliza's face, its mouth opened wide.

With one fluid motion, Eliza raised her hand and shot forth a jet of aflatoxin. The poison hit the large Scarab squarely in the jaws, sinking into its body. The golden insect shrieked in pain and terror, as its body slowly twisted and morphed until it was nothing more than a gray lump of diseased flesh. The newly born Malignant Cell immediately began to replicate itself, fighting the swarm of Scarabs with a swarm of its own. "No thanks," Eliza flashed a smile. "I'm perfectly fine on my own."

"Suit yourself," said Faustus. Opening his palms wide, he sprayed deadly jets of purple toxin at the advancing swarm of Scarabs. Wherever the dark indigo liquid touched, things rotted and turned black, including the very sand itself. Meanwhile, the swarm of Malignant Cells created by Eliza grew larger and larger, and they were beginning to conglomerate into something more powerful. Within moments, the mighty swarm of Scarabs were no more.

"Well, that took care of them," said Eliza after dissolving her Malignant Cells.

But Faustus was still alert. "Don't let your guard down yet, sweetheart. Where there are Scarabs, there must be a Pharaoh around somewhere. He's not going to be easy to take care of."

Before she knew what was going on the two of them were gone, but the caravan was not. It couldn't be. Oh, he was going to answer for using magic on her for no reason. Creating a string updraft, she rises high and high, searching. Soon, Alex spotted it in the distance and quickly hurried straight in their direction.

It wouldn't take her long to catch up. Now she had to be a little sneaky. Alex crept lower and lower to avoid creating a shadow. She began to ride a lower current of air, rushing toward her target. I her mind she readied a spell to restrain the large anubis before he could cast on her again. Of course, "before" could be changed by a wielder of time. Aggravating. She would not be bested this time.

"No, no, It's okay." Sirenes smiles "Really. We can talk to him later. It's not like we're going to be separated forever" She chuckles and hugs her arms around Xanriel, kissing him on the cheek to cheer him up. "The citadel is fine. It should have plenty of room and I'm not sure if we're allowed to go anywhere else anyways"

OOC:   If Zanzarino appeared and made Sekhor go, that would end in one of two ways, Sekhor would attempt to run, and probably be killed, or he would have stuck it out. I know you're not trying to be a control freak, but I've established a personality for him, it doesn't make sense for him to have left while it was happening. It would be easier to change you post then it would be for me to change the personality of my character. At the very least, seeing as how they didn't really have any other options, it would make sense that they tried it out anyway.

InC:

Sekhor:

Sekhor's highly trained canine ears heard the quietest sounds, and even he could not hear the almost silent glider until it was entirely too late. Turning, Sekhor went to bring his hand up to create another time bubble, but found he could not. As he turned, Mariah used one of her oldest tricks, she blew out a harsh breath, and with it, the winds themselves whipped at Sekhor, creating a whirling vortex of air condensed to his form, he could not lift his arms, any attempt was simply held down by the current of air, or on the off chance he could muster up enough strength to pull them up, he knew the air current would only send him spinning in place like a stop. He lifted his lip and snarled, spitting into the wind only to have it fly back and stick to his muzzle.
"Alright, you've captured me Mariah, now what the hell do you want?"

Xanriel:

"That's true, I don't think the people of this city are comfortable with me walking their streets freely."
Once they had made it back to the citadel, Xanriel requested a small room, and immediately a servant appeared and brought them into a small, circular room. Apparently, it had once been used as a meeting place for the generals, before the citadel had been expanded to it's present size.
"This is perfect, thank you," As Xanriel bowed, the servant only barely tipped his head, not wishing to take his eyes off the creature of light, then stepped from the room, "Friendly fellow, don't you think?" Xanriel chuckled as his motes began to pop into existence, one by one as they created a a ring of lights around the room, lighting up the dark chamber.
"Much better, shall we begin?" Xanriel widened his stance.

Mordekai:

"The name's Mordekai," said Mordekai proudly. As the two were walking back to the caravan, the Anubis suddenly stopped and mentioned Mariah again. Suddenly, I want to get out of here.

Heimdall:

Heimdall then proceeded to explain the entire battle in full detail to Illustrus. He was mostly bored with the action and physical combat, but whenever a new spell or potion was used, he would listen attentively and perk up, even interrupting Heimdall once, remarking upon the power of the Nightfall spell. Throughout the recounting, Veneficus sat silently, his face revealing nothing.

Finally, Heimdall got to the part with the lightning bolt. Illustrus leaned forwards in his seat, transfixed, his deep blue eyes glittering from within the depths of his war helmet. Finally, Heimdall finished his tale, and it was a long time before anyone spoke.

It was Veneficus who broke the silence. "To tell you the truth, Heimdall... I am not sure what happened. Not sure at all. Whatever it was, it was a very, very powerful spell. I remember the magical defenses I erected around myself when I had you in my shadow lock in order to prevent any possible counterattack... it would a spell of tremendous magnitude to even scrape my shield. And the fact that I was not only injured, but rendered unconscious, causing me to lose the battle..."

"And that's not the most curious part!" said Heimdall. "The strangest thing is that I myself have no idea what happened!"

"I do," said Veneficus. The room echoed with his voice. Then, he spoke. "A Thunderbolt of the highest power. From your description... one quick, concentrated blast. It's an Aether spell, activated either by a complex incantation... or a very powerful mental power from the depths of Aether itself. An Immortal friend of mine used it on a Lava Golem once." Illustrus winced.

Aether. I knew it. "Then... how did I do it?" Heimdall asked.

"Either there is something you are not telling us... or you have some sort of hidden power laying dormant within you. A power of Aether." Illustrus was serious and calm.

OOC: Edit. Broke it up into two segments. It was rather large. :) Posting other segment later.

@Purity: Would Sekhor doom the entire world to preserve himself? You do realize that if the Void is not contained by the combined powers of all twelve Masters, then it would destroy the entire world of Elements. Even if he thinks the battle is not for him, I highly doubt that he will let the world go to ruin.
