The Ulitharid turned in horror. In all the tumult of the fight, he had not sensed the predator behind him; then, when it was finally too late, he had turned in horror as a terrible flaming face stared back at him. Then, before Heimdall had a chance to react, a whooshing shaft of light pierced the creature straight through the heart. The gigantic form behind him crumpled into a weakened mess as Heimdall turned around to see a thin elfin archer. Heimdall reached into his mind, concluding that the figure did not mean any harm to him. Before long, the fleet figure had reached him. "Hello. I am Zanthos Brightbow, son of Lord of the Elves Yelmar Silverwood, and I am at your service," he said in a musical tone that could only be attributed to the elves of the forest.
"Hello," said Heimdall. He glanced backwards. "Thank you for saving us from that Crimson Dragon. Undoubtedly a hungry one who had wandered too far off to the east." Heimdall looked back at the elf. He had learned not to trust anyone throughout the years, and although the elf had saved his life, he knew not what the elf's deeper intentions were.
He decided that searching the Elf's mind would be a prudent thing to do. Concentrating upon his mental energies, Heimdall entered the elf's mind. Although he resisted at first, Heimdall sent out feelings of calm and safety.
I am a friend, he communicated with the elf.
I just need to determine your intentions.Heimdall learned that the elf was traveling to the Entropic Shore in order to slay a Fallen Elf to prove his worthiness to his family. Like the rest of the party, he had a quest to fulfill. Heimdall, Xanriel, and Zanthos all seemed to share a common destiny to destroy the Fallen Elves.
Heimdall slowly withdrew his mind from Zanthos. "It seems that we share a common goal," he said. "You may join our party." Heimdall then saw the figure behind Zanthos, immediately recognizing it as one of the animals of lore. "You have a Featherider," said Heimdall incredulously. The Featherider was a majestic animal with a Cockatrice's head and wings and the body of an Emerald Dragon. It could travel swiftly in the air or by land. "An Azif Featherider, by the looks of it," said Heimdall.
Heimdall broke from his reverie. "Although you are surely a worthy warrior, why not spar with me for a bit? We could both gain some battle experience and get to know us better. This is Xanriel, an angel who has exceptional healing capabilities. I am Heimdall, a Ulitharid Mind Warrior. That's Jonathan - he is a vampire demon. That there's Dorfl, a Golem. And Ragen the human is beside him.
So," said Heimdall. "Care to spar?"
