Xanriel nodded as he chuckled. "Aye, I couldn't even be sure that he still lives there. He owns a house in each of the lands, I never know where I'm going to find him. Luckily...." Xanriel reached into his billowing robes and pulled out a small key marked with the Aether symbol, "...I have a key to each of them, let's go get some rest, and maybe something to eat." Xanriel ended his sentence with a terrible cough, racking his body. He grumbled to himself, the words 'mortal' and 'weak flesh' the only words understandable

@Purity_Riot: Does your character want to regain his immortality? I could offer to assist you on a quest to do that.

Terro: You can't have cards at the beggining.
Alright, considering that,

Dorfl walked along in the caves of his mountain, working his way upwards. He had seen meteors fall on an area in the Aetherlands, and recognized the spell as Rain of Fire. Somewhere in his brainless body his consciousness wondered who would cast that spell when there didn't appear to be very many targets he knew it was meant to take care of multiple creatures, and was not very accurate. As he pondered this he decided that he would need help to take down gravitron, and anyone dangerous enough to attract that kind of attention might be able to help him. He locked down his volcano, and trudged out towards the Aetherlands border.
I ask nothing of humanity but fairness in all things, but I do not expect even that.

"Xanriel, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly did you lose your immortality?" Jonathan asked. "I have never heard of such a thing before."

"And you, Heimdall. What did the Fallen Elves do to your village? If you two are willing to share your stories with me, then I shall tell you about myself, and the horrors I have seen."

OOC: Wow, you guys post MADNESS fast.

InC:

The trio entered the dark house cautiously. Despite its outward appearance, it was rather large, with 3 rooms branching off of a central one. On a chair in the central room, an Immortal was sitting down. He was wearing a purple cloak and a crested helmet; the Immortals always seemed like they were ready for war. He was scribbling away at a scrap of parchment, so hard at work that he barely noticed the trio enter the room. It was only when Heimdall coughed loudly that the Immortal looked up.

"Oh! Oh," said the Immortal. "Welcome, Xanriel and..."

"Heimdall," said Heimdall.

"John," said Jonathan Haemos Shade.

"Hello, friends of Xanriel," said the Immortal. "Umm... make yourselves at home. I've got some food under the table. Sorry if this may seem to be rude, but I need to fly. I think I've perfected an Immortality spell... I need to go out and buy some Quintessence. I'll be back later. Try not to get into too much trouble, Xanriel," said the Immortal, chuckling before he walked out the door. "Goodbye!"

Heimdall moved aside as the strange figure brushed past him. "Well," he said. "Shall we eat?" Ulitharids had a diet that consisted of fish and a sort of seaweed. Thankfully, he found a little bit of each and began devouring into the food hungrily.

"So, you want to know about my side of the story, eh, John?" said Heimdall. "Well, I was an arrogant youth when I was young. One of the top psionics and spellweavers in my village. And the Elves from the Forest north of here liked to pester us a lot for territory. I wanted to prove to them that I was strong enough; I wanted to take down an entire Elven base camp by myself.

Well, I underestimated them. I took down a good number before I suffered an arrow wound to my arm; then, they pressed down on me. Who knew they could be so vicious? I fled; I had to. The Elves took advantage of the confusion and in revenge, they raided my village. There were only a few survivors.

And from then, I have been wandering around the world, becoming stronger and stronger. One day, I hope to have my own revenge upon those blasted Elves and send them back where they belong."

"Vengeance, eh? Then we have a common goal." Jonathan paused, as painful memories of how his parents were brutally murdered by those traitorous backstabbers all surged back up from the depths of his mind.

"If you two have already made predictions about what I am, then you are most likely correct. My father was a demon, and my mother was a vampire."

"'Was'...?" Xanriel raised an eyebrow.

Jonathan struggled to hold back a tear of blood. "They are no more."

"Oh... I'm sorry." Xanriel apologized. Heimdall looked away; he could sense a deep sadness in this creature of the dark before him.

"My father was Phaeus Shade, one of the demon archlords competing for power in the Kingdom of Darkness." Jonathan said. "In your words, Xanriel, my father's faction was one of the few that was not 'sentenced to death' by the angels."

"Phaeus...?" A hint of recognition flashed in Xanriel's eyes. "I remember him. He was one of the few that was not deemed evil by us angels. I last heard about him when I was still immortal; so do tell me, what happened to him?"

"He was betrayed, and murdered!" Jonathan banged his right fist on the table; he could feel the sclera of his right eye slowly turning black, his demonic nature threatening to take over and unleash its wrath upon the world. Jonathan covered his eye with his left hand, struggling to control his rage and hate.

"What happened?" asked Heimdall sympathetically.

"My mother, Haemia of the Scarlet Crescent, was the leader of a vampire coven. Her coven was allied with my father's demonic faction, against those 'false' vampires of the Dead Marshes."

"'False' vampires?" asked Heimdall.

"I guess an outsider doesn't really know much about the secrets of my mother's kind." said Jonathan. "The true vampires, aligned with Darkness, are a race of being resembling humans; they require blood for sustenance, and they cannot stand direct sunlight. The false vampires, however, are aligned with Death; they are nothing but reanimated human corpses with the ability to drain blood and life from others. They're pathetic imitations of the true vampires."

"In all my years of immortality, I have never heard of such a difference." said Xanriel. "I guess it is a secret only your kind knows about."

"Yes. The true and false vampires are at war, both wanting to take the title of 'vampire'. My mother's coven was allied with my father's demon faction, and we were winning." said Jonathan. "However, the vampires were tired of being subjugated by the demons. Apparently, they wanted to combine their powers with the false vampires, and overthrow the demons."

"So your mother and her coven betrayed your father?" asked Xanriel.

"NO!" Jonathan all but screamed. "My mother loved him! She would never do anything to harm him! But..." Jonathan's voice trailed off as he started sobbing. "But my mother's coven... they betrayed her! In a great battle between the demons and the false vampires, my mother's coven suddenly turned on us. The demons were slaughtered in minutes, and my parents..." Crimson tears of blood seeped between Jonathan's fingers. The anger was now gone, replaced by a sadness so deep that it made a gaping hole in his heart.

"I was only sixteen years of age back then, a mere infant in their standards... I let loose my wrath upon them, but with all my power and rage I could not defeat them all." With great effort, Jonathan brought his tears under control. "Like you, I am an exile of my race now, seeking vengeance on those who betrayed my kind."

The above is NOT finished. I'll just post the unfinished version first, to prevent being ninja'd. Icy and Purity_Riot, please don't post anything until I'm finished. I promise I won't go AFK before I finish.

Wow, nice. Just like a toad.

Good idea. I should start doing this, too.

As Dorfl traveled, he passed many towns, but saved a large amount of time by not stopping for food or rest. As he came towards an area that was covered in scorch marks and craters. This must be the site of the Rain of Fire, he thought. Then he noticed tracks heading toward a distant town. He followed them, grateful that there was no rain in the Aetherlands to wash away the tracks. Before he went, however, he changed his body type to Aetheric, so he could blend in better.

OOC: lol, thanks for telling me

InC:

Xanriel shook his head as Illustrus the Immortal passed him, chuckling and coughing as he moved to sit at the table, shaking his head at Heimdall. He pondered for a moment, than decided sharing at least a little was safe.
"No, I've no need to eat. I survive off the emotions of others. I've been around you two long enough today that I'll be fine for a couple of days I think." He chuckled again, noting the expressions of those around him. He picked an apple up off the ground and idly rolled it on the table, spinning it from time to time. He'd never even attempted to eat, the whole process just looked uncomfortable. He made a note to ignore Jonny's question while he listened to the Ulitharid's story, hoping he wouldn't ask again. He listened to Jonny's story with interest, he had never heard of any of this. Perhaps the gods and false gods kept more secrets from their angels then they let on. He was silent in reverence for a few moments, then he pointed off to the rooms around them.
"Illustrus has two guest rooms, one to the left, the other to the right, if you're tired, feel free to take a bed. I don't sleep."
