"Vengeance, eh? Then we have a common goal." Jonathan paused, as painful memories of how his parents were brutally murdered by those traitorous backstabbers all surged back up from the depths of his mind.
"If you two have already made predictions about what I am, then you are most likely correct. My father was a demon, and my mother was a vampire."
"'Was'...?" Xanriel raised an eyebrow.
Jonathan struggled to hold back a tear of blood. "They are no more."
"Oh... I'm sorry." Xanriel apologized. Heimdall looked away; he could sense a deep sadness in this creature of the dark before him.
"My father was Phaeus Shade, one of the demon archlords competing for power in the Kingdom of Darkness." Jonathan said. "In your words, Xanriel, my father's faction was one of the few that was not 'sentenced to death' by the angels."
"Phaeus...?" A hint of recognition flashed in Xanriel's eyes. "I remember him. He was one of the few that was not deemed evil by us angels. I last heard about him when I was still immortal; so do tell me, what happened to him?"
"He was betrayed, and murdered!" Jonathan banged his right fist on the table; he could feel the sclera of his right eye slowly turning black, his demonic nature threatening to take over and unleash its wrath upon the world. Jonathan covered his eye with his left hand, struggling to control his rage and hate.
"What happened?" asked Heimdall sympathetically.
"My mother, Haemia of the Scarlet Crescent, was the leader of a vampire coven. Her coven was allied with my father's demonic faction, against those 'false' vampires of the Dead Marshes."
"'False' vampires?" asked Heimdall.
"I guess an outsider doesn't really know much about the secrets of my mother's kind." said Jonathan. "The true vampires, aligned with Darkness, are a race of being resembling humans; they require blood for sustenance, and they cannot stand direct sunlight. The false vampires, however, are aligned with Death; they are nothing but reanimated human corpses with the ability to drain blood and life from others. They're pathetic imitations of the true vampires."
"In all my years of immortality, I have never heard of such a difference." said Xanriel. "I guess it is a secret only your kind knows about."
"Yes. The true and false vampires are at war, both wanting to take the title of 'vampire'. My mother's coven was allied with my father's demon faction, and we were winning." said Jonathan. "However, the vampires were tired of being subjugated by the demons. Apparently, they wanted to combine their powers with the false vampires, and overthrow the demons."
"So your mother and her coven betrayed your father?" asked Xanriel.
"NO!" Jonathan all but screamed. "My mother loved him! She would never do anything to harm him! But..." Jonathan's voice trailed off as he started sobbing. "But my mother's coven... they betrayed her! In a great battle between the demons and the false vampires, my mother's coven suddenly turned on us. The demons were slaughtered in minutes, and my parents..." Crimson tears of blood seeped between Jonathan's fingers. The anger was now gone, replaced by a sadness so deep that it made a gaping hole in his heart.
"I was only sixteen years of age back then, a mere infant in their standards... I let loose my wrath upon them, but with all my power and rage I could not defeat them all." With great effort, Jonathan brought his tears under control. "Like you, I am an exile of my race now, seeking vengeance on those who betrayed my kind."
The above is NOT finished. I'll just post the unfinished version first, to prevent being ninja'd. Icy and Purity_Riot, please don't post anything until I'm finished. I promise I won't go AFK before I finish.
EDIT: I think I'm finally finished...
