Before we lynch someone we should wait for the seer to tell us who he visited. Following that we can just have the doctor protect the seer for the remainder of the game.

It doesn't work that way. The doctor and seer can only use their abilities every other phase. If the seer just said "Hey everyone, I've ID'd so-and-so as innocent/guilty," then he'll probably be killed that phase by the mafia. The doctor probably used their ability last round. And it's most likely that the seer picked someone innocent to use their ability on. That wouldn't help the innocents at all.

Well, technically that would tell them one person they could trust, but you're right, it wouldn't help much.
